Hello to my peeps, I have a Dream and there is this big valley that all you could see for miles an miles an miles of morels popping as high as the eye could see and all the tree's had morels growing on them like pines cones. I believe we could all get together this Spring to camp out and Fun Girl and Daddy of Washington. I have been think of this all winter and have some friends from last year's Foray that would like to do the same. If you all like to do with us here's how you could touch base with me: pick on your pine board key's and send me the time you all would have off and I'll put it in place and wright beck to you all. I well be doing a foray in early June. Augustmoon1950@q.com

Had that last snow blast, but didnt' stick around much. Thinking its done now and time for Morels to start peeking out in the next few weeks...whatyeah think?

shroomertom; thanks again for helping me understand more than I was aware of. As previously said my information is from personal experience and light reading back in 1988, I still desire any links available that are not too technical for my psychology degrees to understand..... ..... August one; I recall that this board was created in your name for your usage as well as others of discussing adventures of 'Alice' etc and other bull stuff. I seen a wascally wabbit in the Sonora Desert this winter but no enticement could get Alice to share the hot springs.... bummer

To Enough already, I do believe the mad morel "BULL BOARD" was set up for others like Alice and even the dam wabbit to post there Comments as well and even you have done so,so if you have something to say, say it but don't be so(negative). Alice is what everyone has been, would like to be. She been on this board for sometime now, by the way why do you use this board (madmorel bull board)? that is. There are many people out there that come here to just talk to each other and shoot the bull!. but why put down the wabbit along with Alice. Have you seen her New Moving?. I well be doing a spring Foray with Chris in June and I have been talking to the USDA Forest Service Office and have been told that I don't need a Permit to Teach others the good and the bad tell next year. So for now let the wabbit loss and go see Alice's move

Lobo: In my last, pre-shroom life I wrote technical manuals for electronic engineers at Bell Labs. Trust me, the high voltage you're talking about is a-c and it will stop a pacemaker--that's why cops sometimes kill heart patients with them. Transformers ONLY work with a-c. Spark coils (the kind of high-voltage generator in a stun gun or lawnmower or old car) only work with a-c as any transformer does. Even in a little transistor radio (where you see those transformer coils) they first have to convert the battery d-c into a-c. Direct current or d-c will burn you but will not give you much of a shock. To step up the voltage you have to use a circuit such as an astable multivibrator to convert the d-c to a-c. So you can go from 9-volts d-c through a multivibrator, producing 9 v-a-c. This will give you an itty bitty shock. Put this 9 v-a-c into a spark coil (like a fence charger) and you're talking 3000-4000 v-a-c (at low amperage). Stun guns get it to 50,000-75,000 v-a-c generally but at very low amperage. (After all, the battery is the electron source--it's not magic.) Thomas Edison favored d-c but lost out to Tesla's a-c because d-c can't be transmitted very far without major power losses. The higher the a-c voltage the longer distances an lower power losses. For instance, a 100-kv transmission line causes the wire to behave almost like a superconductor--hence the lines run by the Bonneville Power Administration. This ends today's primer on basic electricity.

Thanks for the info August, I shall look for it. I wish I could be there for the Naches meeting. I met some nice folks in Quartzsite this winter who have invited me to stay at their property, foraging and teaching them about edible gourmet mushrooms. They desire to raise morels so I sent some fresh ones yesterday to taste and collect spore from. …… Shroomertom; I have not followed up on recent developments on stun gun therapy and there is most likely new information discovered since 1988, my interest has been in that it works and that is enough for me. I have been told that because it is DC it cannot interfere with a ‘pacemaker’ where as AC can kill us. If you have more recent information I would appreciate links. ….. …….. I suppose by now most may have heard of the new ‘CPR method’ wherein you only need to do chest compressions initially and not mouth-to-mouth until the body depletes its saved oxygen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5huVSebZpM

Lobo you lonely loon, Look up YouTube for the 410 landslide from last fall. They well open the pass early this year if we don't get any Major snow storms anytime soon.........Kelly, there well be a meeting on Prescribed burns in the Naches Ranger District this Tuesday (3-9-2010 ) from 2-7 p.m. and it open to the public for answer there burning. Some of the grounds I have Bolets an Chants that grow there and some pines. If they burn I well lose them we need to give them some in-put on why they should not burn. If you plan on going let let. Shroomertom; I stand corrected for any inept usage of the vernacular. The first time I used the process was in about 1988 when I went with a friend on Honda trail bikes to do the annual assessment in the back country at his family's silver mine. A large black hornet stung me on the back and I told my friend of what I had read about this and he placed one copper wire inside a spark plug wire from one of the bikes & attached another on the frame. I had him place the wires on each side of the swelling which was about 1/2 inch high by then and about an inch wide. I had him kick the start pedal and then re-position the wires and do it again. I believe that he is the one who told me that it must be DC off a coil, but it may have been from what I read back then in the Outdoor Life magazine if I recall correctly (about 1988). He said that any small gas engine such as lawn mower etc may be used. Since then I have used a stun-gun and carry one as emergency equipment for any venomous bite, mostly I have used it for yellow jacket stings on self and family. In my experience it takes about the same time lapse of how soon the zapping is done to how long it takes for the pain to be gone, such as two minutes from sting to zapping & two minutes for sting to be gone. The first time it took 20 minutes for the wires to be prepared and 20 minutes before all the pain was gone but for awhile longer there was a small black sting hole left.

Lone Lobo: You get a-c off a coil--coils don't work with d-c because you need a collapsing magnetic field (i.e., from switching on and off as in a-c) to make the primary coil squirt out high voltage. They use a circuit called an astable multivibrator or solid-state converter to produce a-c that drives things like spark coils in automobiles. A stun gun is a good way to do what you say. Theoretically it could work (since many components of snake venom work in combination) and you would essentially be separating these components through a process called electrophoresis. LOL.

I seen a gecko on Sunday, another jackwabbit yesterday and two ground squirrels today, with a big horse fly on my back at the hot pool and the snattle-rakes have come out to hunt the little critters, thank goodness the snake venom can be neutralized with 'DC off a coil' shock therapy... no scorpions yet near the cactus & palm tree morels, said with fingers crossed, lol.
