MessagesT.C.'s wife You and T.C. Have alot to be very proud of. Not everyone has to agree with what he has done. However they wont forget that what T.C. Has done was for us ALL INCLUDING the people on here that dont like him or what he has done. He is the ONLY one In all the years of picking that I have seen to take a stand for us all. Its ashamed there aint more people out there like him and yourself. I have to tell you Im proud of you as well because you have stood behind your man for what you both beleive is the right thing to do. And you have 2 very beautiful girls. Keep up the great work and THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR STANDING UP FOR US ALL! take care Lori

Messagesfor real, t.c, and for pretty much everyone on this mushroom board.... Who cares what people think, and their oppinions of you. It dosn't matter, and remember that, it really dosn't, it never has, and it never will/
MessagesThis is to everyone out there that reads matsiman posts, I realize that everyone has their own feelings towards my husband and not everyone agrees with his actions of lately. When I read some of the posts about T.C. being selfish or wanting attention for himself, I laugh because it is amazing how ignorant people can be. In your life you may come across many people and form an opinion in an instant but to make statements about someone you really don't know doesn't that make you ignorant ...(JDS and whoever else). T.C. made a statement and stood up for something he believed in, the mushroom industry has been his whole life since he was a little kid. I've only known Tory for six years, but in that time I've never met someone with so much compassion and drive for something he believes in. In this industry (working for the "cartel") there is no loyalty, it's cutthroat, a lot of lies and why?? It's a cash industry. Sure we could go down and open our doors ... but what for? To hand out five bucks to some picker and have to feel bad for them, NO THANKS! I did that a few times this year and that was rounding them up and that feeling is awful, its sickening! 99%of our pickers that came through our door this year were not bums they were middle-aged people with jobs that have seen the days where the price was high but still have that fever for a full bucket in the forest. The sad part was how much they made, most picks barely covered the gas it cost for them to go. I'll tell you one thing, I really enjoy their company and their stories as well as the ones that took time to talk to my children who spent alot of time this year at the depot. Their are alot of pickers who are very special to us! And let's not forget the ones who have past on who were very special to my husband. On one very important note I want to add, this year I only had 5 children under the age of 15 that picked either in a group or with their parents. On other years I can't count how many children we had, our walls were so covered in pictures kids drew for our yearly coloring contest. Does that tell you anything? Has it got to the point where we can say this won't be around for our children and grandchildren? When you pick mushrooms and sell them at this low price your giving away a valuable resource that at one time supplemented many peoples incomes greatly. For those who think my husband is still selfish for himself, there are those out there that know when they needed extra money for gas, or the out of towners that were down on their luck and needed a shower or something to eat, or even a place to sleep who was there? Or the ones that needed someone to talk to when things were bad in their life? What about when a picker went missing in the bush, who would be on the horn, trying to help? (many went missing) WHO got blamed from the "cartel" everytime their was a price increase? Tory ... trying to get a fair dollar for the picker! Tory has used his business to help the community in many positive ways, he's fundraised for the foodbank, donated every single year since I've known him for children's charity and bought presents for the christmas hampers. We did a mushroom float for Riverboat days that won first place, sponsered a ball team every year. He's put in alot of time and effort, and like him or not, I know the real person, the person that alot of people don't take the time to see. That's why I married him . I know that we have done good in our lives and I know I can sleep at night, can you? Thanks Matsiman, for your support and all the others out there... The picture of T.C. and our girls was one of my favourites and it was a moment in time that I won't soon forget ... Thanks for the post. I am impressed with the amount of you ladies who come here and post and are so interested in the mushroom world. ( you, Carla, Westwood, and many others I know )Keep it up you are all great assets to our world, Woofer. Also, Like I tell Carla a lot. Don't let the Nay sayers get to you. There will always be those who be against you no matter what you do or say. Just ignore em the best you can, and sooner or later they will leave you alone when you stop rising to their bait and antagonisms. Woofer
MessagesHey August , where are you from ? what part of Wa? Tammy
MessagesTake into account that the japanese tend to enjoy the "Red matsi' over the North American variety. Now that the Chinese matsi's are a problem and the korean product is non existant . should'nt we be enjoying some reasonably decent prices? I really don't think the gift market prices in Vancouver (Ca) ever fluctuate much or... even at all!
MessagesIt same's that ever year that you all up in Canada start to pick early the price is alway's low and before the market in japan open's up we here in Wastington would start out at $5 a lb for #1and the south cascades of Oregon would be higher in price and we would get stuck with the low price. I'm hopeing that the snow there would be down low to help the price to jump up some.We could only hope for the best.....August
MessagesT.C. Hope all is well we have not heard much from you latley. By the way I love the pic of you and your beautiful girls. Take care Lori
MessagesJDS,I'm sure you don't know me , you don't know what i do did or have done for a living. Lets start at i was a Counselor for children before i got shot in the head by Hunter. I don't blame the gun for this it actually was an Innocent by stander. well you put up a Word . Prejudiced. Tc's name was involved. to me your the one using Key words here . Do you Know Tc? I see your actions as a Blaming and accusations. MY professional Opinion. For what ever reasons you Posted that Word On a list you definitely wanted to say something. So forget the definition come out with it . Tammy PS you have 15 minutes free of my time . then i have to go to sleep.

MessagesA, Carlas mad Coffee ? LMAO 1 pot of Coffee for me equals espresso 3 cups. 6 cups water and if im wet and cold comming in 2 shots of What ever is above the refrigerator . Mostly rum or Vadka
MessagesHey JDS, all this talk of it was a waste of food. Well yes it was, but...If a mushroom grows in the forest and no one is there to eat it...Does it have a taste? So let's just pretend the mushrooms destroyed are from my helicopter patch that no-one is eating. Get it?
MessagesT.C. If I deleted your post, It was a mistake. I was deleting innapropriate posts, and May have accidentley highlighted your post by accident.( I do that every so often ) I am apologize profusely for my mistake and hope you dont take it personal. Besides if there was something like bad language in your post. I would put a tag at the end of the post. Again. it was a mistake on my part
Messagesjust want to say my heart goes out to the canadian pickers they seem to take the brunt of these falling prices every year.canadians get 1-3per lb americans though not much better do usually get more. A hearty hello to my friends and enemies in terrace.Todd are pickin this year? good pickin to all
Messagesmatsiman Andy; Glad you made it out safe. I have been up in that area when the snows come, I carry big heavy tire chains in my Winnebago but sometimes those roads get nasty. I liked TC's photo, my daughter is 26 now but I still treasure the photos I have of when she was young. If this TC is the brother of Terry then I can say that they both always treated me right when they were buying matsutake at Cave Junction back in the big money days.
MessagesI for one again with matsiman. I don't know t.c.but this is not a place to put the man and his family down beside's don't you know that his kid's read this board also.some of you have not been around long to judge anyone that post and you need to look at your self frist at least he is trying to help not just him salf but those of you that won't do it for your self's......... I not here for you to judge me but to help teach those that need the help and there are those that know who I'am and what I stand for and I'll never be one to hide behind a name that is not real.........August Steinborn Thanks dude

Well, I'm moved, cold and soaking wet!!! Great day, cats
aren't too happy.
To address the posting of TC's picture. The purpose of
the "Matsi Moment" gallery is to show people enjoying matsutake, and a
chance to be seen worldwide. I have had some find old grade school friends
from the photos posted here. Great feeling for me.
The photo of TC and his daughters is just one of those. I can't judge the man as some of you. I posted once before GOD has that job, and I don't think he is taking applications, or plans to retire. TC's actions may or may not be what everybody wants, but it's his actions up for judgment, not a photo or his daughters.
If you have a bad taste for TC, then don't look at the
photo, and please don't condemn me or the site for a photo of a man and two
beautiful daughters. Look at the smiling faces, joy and happiness shown in
photo, matsi at center, then condemn his actions, if you choose, not him or
his family.
Later, Matsiman
MessagesI am sure he will be happy anywhere he goes.... as long as he has his trillions with him, meybey TC can burn a few for those in the afterlife.
MessagesI would love to see what he would do with his money when he is gone from this earth. It is said that no man can entre haven are buy his way there.
Messageshey marin, hope your venture this week is good look forward to seeing you and jim. just dont forget about me mistymtgrown
MessagesAs I posted. I don't like mushrooms destroyed as well. but unlike you I do understand why! what would you suppose Jo-ch would do if he bought $2000000.00 worth of mushrooms this evening, shipped them the day after tommorrow and lost $18000000.00, even if It was his mistake he would pas it on to the picker, and it dos'nt matter which picker, just any picker. he needs his money really bad, apparently he found a way to take it with him when he's gone
MessagesWestwood...I didn't accuse anyone of being prejudiced. I simply wrote a defintion of a word, and I wrote that definition exactly the same as the dictionary entry. The word prejudice was part of a list, that also included the word emotion, which is the key word. That's what someone is playing on...picker's emotions. RobT...You asked me to "come clean" about what "you people" are getting in Japan. Sorry but I can't tell you anything about that because that's not where my mushrooms go. I'll tell you the absolute truth...all the mushrooms I picked yesterday went to a family that I have been providing mushrooms to since 1981. They respect me, and I respect them, and they are good friends whom I look forward to seeing when Matsutakes come up. They would never in a million years understand the wanton destruction of beautiful mushrooms.

MessagesWe are putting together our weekly edition today and will likely be featuring TC and his stomp on our front page. It is people like TC that brought decency to our society at the start of the industrial revolution. Standing up for your friends and neighbours at whatever cost to yourself is the ultimate in human dignity and integrity. Sacrificing your friends and family for selfish personal gain would be the opposite. You can put your own words to describe that character trait! We will accept any contributions for this article over the next three hours. write to merv at northwebpress dot com. merv@northwebpress.com online the paper is terracedaily dot ca www.terracedaily.ca
MessagesAnita - you should be thanking TC for the extra volume and better price for "your customers" not rubbing it in his face. Just goes to show what kind of a person you are. What have you done for your pickers? NYEB
Messagesto cari: there's a buyer in Lake Cowichan. If you're not averse to the distance, I can probably get the phone # for you.

Messagesis it pine picking time yet
MessagesHey Marin, I've noticed that when they start flagging underground it's the end of the season, I hope not because the price finally is half decent. Anybody else with ideas? Goodluck
Messagesbeing a picker for 20+YEARS its dicouraging to see whats happened to this market. I must applaud T.C. for his BALLS to do what he did. Finding ones own market is the only way to go in these times of GREED from the joes. three weeks ago I was in terrace pickin when the price hit $1 a lb. we brought back 20 baskets of beautiful buttons and 6 baskets of #3 and 4's the later to give to an old japanese budy, needless to say he only got one basket because we sold all our 1,s for $15 and got $5 for our 3s &4s. to stay out of the bush is really hard when the buttons are poppin ( its a good thing we love eating them ) because at $1 a lb. I will give them away to freinds before any joe gets them to make $. my old buddy saw pines in a lowermainland market and said one #4 was $35.00 I am now in the Okanogan and in a small vegie market I found pines for $8.99 lb. ( #3,4&5s very small and dry) Untill the JOES out there stop their greed we will have to work a little harder and find our own market to sell our top quallity shroomies. good luck to all the pickers, and my hat goes off to you T.C. way to go.
MessagesJDS: That is a fitting definition for the cartel, thanks for posting....
MessagesI did a quick, late in the day trip reconing some patchs and to my dismay only found one button, and a couple of handfuls of #4s. I didn't get to the area untill 3:30 and pepole were com'ing out as I went in, they had naterualy cleaned the site up pretty well, (but nobody gets them all)! Anyway what I noticed was this, they were flagging out under ground. Anyone know why? Marin
MessagesJDS,you are to funny! I think you really enjoy pressing buttons and it's one thing that your certainly good at!
MessagesHey JDS, I don't like "the stomp" anymore than the next guy, but, I don't like seeing people being ripped off in an already recessed economy, You should read the Japan Times, Agroteam systems websites before you refer to someone as a "demigogue" or whatever. Why don't you come clean and post prices you people are getting in Japan, you might have a slim hope of gaining some creditability.....later dude
MessagesFrom Webster's New World Dictionary: demagogue...a person who tries to stir up the people by appeals to emotion, prejudice, etc. in order to become a leader and achieve selfish ends.
MessagesIf you ppl spent half the time developing your own markets that you spend bickering on this site, there would not be a problem.
MessagesHi Everyone. I am finally getting some rain here! YAY!! That means that I will be getting very very busy soon! The Chanties looked just gorgeous yesterday after just 1 day of rain! Messageswestwood; Your pixiebobs are quite cute and anyone who has observed robert-cats would know better than to call them Bob....funny post. .... There used to be a buyer who had a real Bob Cat with him at his station and in his pickup everywhere he went.
MessagesIf anyone is interested I know a local farmers market guy who will buy 1 through threes for 5 dollars a pound but only from trusted sources. If you are in the Portland area looking to sell let me know. I normally pick but have been to busy.

MessagesSometimes T.C can get emotional and upset and he does post using profanity. But I belive he is trying to make a difference and this may take a while to happen. When there is bad language we do clean it up and let him post more, and anyone else can do the same. I will delete any inappropriate post I see fit too. I will give warnings and will also edit posts as needed. And if a posts does gete deleted. It is because its is extremely inappropriate and may have accusations or threats
MessagesMr. Matsiman I feel that you have that block senders list for a reason and maybe it's time to block a few of the posters who continue to create problems with your website reason being it's not helping anybodies hopes for a change in the industry. F JDS!
MessagesForget about me having the courage to do what I did for all the pickers, except for the dissers like you guys who have nothing better to do than cry like little babies and you guys probably are not even pickers. I've used profanity at it's proper state as far as real people understand in this frustrating time. Cry all you want about matsiman and yes i do agree as you've mentioned before, Matsiman, that this site of yours is for people to express both the positive and negative aspects of this industry. As far as I'm concerned if you folk who still don't realize that my stomp was for not just myself (releasing my tensions from the past few years of being in the field buying) but also for the pickers who deserve far more than what they are recieving. I don't need to dis anyone and I'm not going to dis you JDS and brt and the rest, because the true people who share on this site obviously realize that theres only you few who don't support me or my actions. I have no problem with your feelings towards myself because we do live in a free country and everybodies entitled to their own opinions. Thank you Mr. Matsiman for realizing and accepting my so called profanity, but I know you as myself have hiked many a hill and F@@k Jack and Jill cause Jack fell down and broke his crown! I don't know if you'd call this profanity but I had a good friend give me a new nickname for Joe Salvo and it's Joe Sell low! LOL Anyways price in Terrace closed at eight dollars tonight and will be higher than ten dollars a pound tomorrow...Why? Cause I know! If you haven't already read my posting from this morning at 4 am, it shows a little bit of knowledge I have on these price fixing games the so called cartel plays because I've been on both sides of the fence, not only the buyers are buying flags now!!! Thank you to all the positive readers and thank you to all the negative because I'm satisfied with all the attention the negative dudes post and I laugh because you guys should do something like I did instead of crying like little babies! How's that for profanity? T.C. P.S. Thanks for the support Powell River Jack hope to see you soon.
Messagesi agree with jds it seams the only person that can talk trash cut down people and use foul language is tc? and someone that is try to let people know what he really is about gets deleted? dont get it i thought this site was about mushrooms
MessagesSomeone sends in a post filled with profanities, personal insults and derogatory comments about a woman's physique, and then he gets a picture of himself and his children posted. Why? Sorry, I just don't get it.
MessagesNew photo TC and Daughters
MessagesCan anyone tell me what the Boletes are going for.?
MessagesFresh snow on all the mountain tops surrounding terrace today. Been noticing either not too many pickers at the depot or low volume now. heard dunhams were at five and the boss with the cowboy hat was pretty excited about that one!
MessagesI got an idea...how about someone write a story for the media that sums this complicated mess up in a nutshell. Fact and figures only! Urging the public to stop picking. I would like to see it done right by a bias professional reporter, not an amateur video like mine. Media attention to the problem is what is needed for a change. Any company could come in right now and take all of our high quality, high volume of mushroom's for a fair price. Where are they? Makes me wonder. We may also be forced into a bigger mess with safety concerns that could shut the whole industry down here with tainted mushroom's. This would give this industry a bad reputation, creating a huge loss to everyone involved. (right Joe(s)? -you get what you pay for) That kind of talk is ignorant and would be nothing more than a step back - instead of forward. Anyway - I am a designer - not a writer, reporter, camera man or editor, so to those that have sent in positive responses, thank you for the support and taking the time to watch our rant. Pass the link and share a bit of the truth -This is not Burma GuruStu.
MessagesMatsiman Im a HUGE cat lover I only have 2 but I collect cat figurines and such. So wanted to let you know you have some very beautiful cats there. Take care Lori
MessagesAugust, Snow melting slow at 5,300 FT. Too mush to hunt mushrooms. Last outing yesterday, was poor. older mushrooms, and no new 1,500 lower. Next flush Westside probably 3,000 FT. Plan on getting out tomorrow. Hope no more snow tonight. Wife is in Northern Cal. won't be back till tonight. Can't move cats and all without the truck.
MessagesCarla, That would be great. They need shipping during the week to Portland area. The guy is a past customer. He has brothers and sisters also. Westwood, email me for details if interested. Only 10.00 per pound, but only 1 pound need be 1's or 2's The rest 3's, 4's and 5's. He just likes the taste, and the older mushrooms have more!!!
Messagesin response;i was simply thinking "all" grades matsiman,of course there would be diferences tween grades.simply pricing the mushroom your ranging prices isnt a part of the eqationing. prices like $300 were a problem that caused the mess called white gold n got ppl raking."not good"I have seen the devastion in my hometown.on goat island i found a area raked to the roots! 60 by 80 ft clear to the dirt!
Messageshi there, i am wondering if there are any buyers in the victoria area? or maybe in the cowichan area? I am at a loss as to how to get in touch with any buyers in the area, can anyone help me? Thankyou in advance!
MessagesHi Matsiman. I don't have the poundage right now but Westwood could probably get them if not herself she could buy them from a local picker right there in Florence, I know there are some coming in from there to a buyer right there...
MessagesCorrection that should have said Goof Ball... LOL
MessagesHi Westwood. I can never get through to you on your phone line... Good Ball ;-)
MessagesMatsiman, how is the snow, may be you need to drop down in elevation before the next storm come's in tonight if not stay warm and dry. By the way has the snow slowed down the picking?.
MessagesHi everyone: It was an awesome day for a hike in the woods yesterday..... while in port alberni I found the ground to be dry and very few pines compared to most years.... What I did find will be enjoyed by friends and the freezer for the winter ahead.... I have no Idea of the price and would not sell to a buyer at any price. I have more respect for myself, It is a decision that each individual has to make on there own and in there own time.... T.C you took a stand this year to no longer play the game with the cartel... I know of other ex-buyers that have made that choice several years ago..... Looking back over the history of this industry there are more experienced pickers that have been forced to come to the same conclusion, not to pick for the cartel.... Having my own markets has helped, I am sure that In the future more creative markets will be created through an association, I look foward to seeing the development of individuals coming together for the same common purpose. Take care out there.
Messageskermodei1, Thanks for the donation offer. I do have a PayPal account, but won't take donations. Just the way I am.

MessagesDON'T SEND POSTCARDS FROM PARADISE!!
MessagesMatsiman, I would like to see the price go up some but can't see this happening so I'm looking for other out let's. Those that I sale to have turn other's away because they don't know how to take care of them in the right maner and that's good for me but some time's hard for me to make a sale. I find if I bring in some to show how there going to look when saleing, it help's. A person must look at the way a chef wound won't them to look, worm free and clean. If you would not eat them yourself then how do you think a chef would buy them.I would like to see 20 to 25 dallars a lb to start out but as we know that's not ever going to happan anytime soon, too many picker's and too many mushroom's we have are self's to blame for talking to much about the money we could make in a day!.There are those who can talk up a storm about how much they have made in a day and like a gold rush people need to keep thing's to them self's if they won't to make money. Next time when you find that someone has found your patch, think about this !!.
MessagesMatsiman, sorry to here about not getting the mushrooms! Unfortunately cant help you being in Canada. Just a thought but if you have a Paypal account, Id like to make a small donation to help with the site costs.
MessagesMatsiman, be safe bud, the snow will probably melt in the next day or so you should be okay. I still have no clue on my schedule for the next couple weeks, and if the snow sticks. I may have to pick a lot lwer or over by the lakes
MessagesI'm disappointed with the response to my getting your own market post. Do any of you really want to become independent from buyers, or do you just want more money from them. Be realistic. I hear 20.00 a pound minimum. I'm going to run the figures from the Boswell Biomass Economics study and refigure poundage based on 20.00 per pound. At present average price per pound is between 7.00 and 10.00 for all pounds sold every year since 1994, before pickers and area picked increased. Now you want to double or triple that. Wish ya luck, but don't want to be part of a new price gouging set up run by pickers. Keep posting here, but don't count on me or this site being a part of unreasonable pricing. Later Matsiman
MessagesTC, really getting tiered of removing your double + posts. The last message was repeated 5 times, 2 minutes or less between re posts. Be patient, or get a faster internet connection.
Messagesrobert from sutherlin, Thanks for the contact #. I'm still getting it together on a market, not for me, but for the few who actually want to get their own. I don't want to be responsible for your lively hood as the buyers and brokers are now. I posted earlier I have a 7 pound order now to a private party in Portland and can't fill it. Got no offers of help. Go figure.
MessagesWestwood Matsi top , Nope, don't want to start a CO- op. Too much work, and no fun.
MessagesWoofer, Cats doing fine, but cold. Will likely move the motor home Sunday, in the rain or snow. Snowed a little more last night. Hope some melts today. Don't want to slide off the road during move.
MessagesWELL SHIT I NEVER KNEW IT WAS THIS LATE!!! Gotta go pick up my Mushroom Crew L.O.L. , My Roofing Crew . Joe Boy always said that he never checked out this sight... personally I would'nt either if I was him only because of all the positive remarks directed towards his smart business ethic's. First they called him Joe Nadeau..... Then it was Joe No-go.....Soon Later, Joe No-Dough..... But now He changed his name to Joe Salvo. Hey Joe, We're all wondering if you could Salvo the rest of this season? Christmas is coming and our Goose aint gettin Fat!!! If Betty Sag Boobs," tattles as normal" that I posted this message to you on MATSIMAN.COM and you accidently (For Some Fluke reason) happen to read this (Not thinking you would, only because F#*Kin IDIOTS Like Myself only post or read this site!) , then I was just wondering when you could square up with me $ wise so I can pay The City Of Terrace for all the clean-up cost's from THE AFTERMATH OF THE STOMP which if you can recollect, cosisted of The Demolishing Of Those Perfect Pine #1 M 's outside of ,"At The Present Time, One Of Your Buying Station's!" ACTUALLY YOUR BEST ONE " Also besides the debt I'll Still need you to wire me some more scranny $$$$ for the Hydro and Tel. One more question... seeings Tracey and Myself decided to close earlier than normal we were wondering if you could grab us those Tickets to Mexico (YEAREND BONUS) for the first week in December instead of January !!! Thanks T'C. Messages

He paid it on the 28th. ( His buyer Micheal Austin told me he is going to pay that price for the rest of the year. ask for yourself.

MessagesThere's a chill in the air, soon the frost will be here. prices today are 4.00@lb might go up too 5. prices might get better next season, providing there is one. Funny I don't here of helicopters being used for picking, is this the big money that brokers say they lost or was it product quality?
MessagesIs the price still 4-6 up in Terrace, Nass?
MessagesAndy...Stay warm up there!!! I hope I don't see any of that white stuff tomorrow.

MessagesWildside; I am in the US so for taxes I am considered a sole proprietor, iffin I ever find a girl that i care to spend lots of time with and who will put up with my life-style then perhaps... .... hoppers or hoppy-bugs are tiny flea like bugs that love to eat your mushrooms, if a buyer has a hopper hatch in his baskets then a whole shipment can be eaten in a short time as they multiply. .... Morel mushrooms that have a bad hopper infestation will crumble in your hands, matsutake are more dense and take longer to eat but hoppies can ruin a shipment in short order and make it worthless. .... Some folks are adept at seeing hopper eggs prior to a hatch but not everyone cares and they will still try to sell the infested mushrooms. ... Often at a warehouse the mushrooms are placed in a room that is injected with Co2 or nitrogen to kill the bugs and worms but they are still inside the mushroom even though they are dead. .... I have done a bit of research on this to perfect a 100% natural way of removing the worms and killing the hoppers.
MessagesT.C. I tried getting in touch with you through email and it didnt seem to work. So if you would still like to contact me please feel free to here is my email addy kd7mug@hotmail.com hope to hear from you soon take care Lori
MessagesHi Tom, good to see ya respond. Guess I was real unclear about what I am thinking of as a market. Meant to be, just to see the response. Well don't want to be a buyer or a broker, but might be able to find markets for some because of the name and site. I would just help facilitate buyer meeting picker. If a good relationship is developed, I'm gone. I have a 7 pound, variety grades order now, and no shrooms, and 75 miles from shipping. Someone could fill this order and have a new client, if the client is pleased. Charge what you want on their next order. I don't want customers. Later, Matsiman

MessagesAround 15 years ago nass camp the price hit 6 lb i called it black monday almost everyone stopped buying, they stayed open they just didnt buy. geuss what the price came back up. the buyers can solve this, you need some guts. At least TC is trying. Pickers cant do it , so many people some one will always pick its up to you guys stick together, even if you dont get along. the low price is bad for all of us. but good for the joe's. Get together make it work! way to goTC you have my respect. keep trying Randy leave your mark.
MessagesTom.... are you a newby,....what happens to the independents in Tokyo is that the longshoremen don't unload you rightaway or the product is held for inspection unless you are hooked up! you must know somebody or you are going to loose bookoo bucks. bindare dundat..........will try something else
MessagesYou can't really come up with a base price. $12.00 a pound is a good price when there are a reasonable amount of mushrooms. When they are scarce, the price should be higher... nobody is going to spend 10 hours in the bush to pull 2 pounds of mushroom out. That's a $24.00 day or $2.40 an hour. If it's a bumper crop year, then $12.00 a pound is too much. (too much? what is he, crazy?) It's true that the price should fluctuate depending on the market. If there is tons of mushrooms going out to Japan, the Japanese are going to pay less... this does and should come down to the buyer and the picker getting paid less... it's just economics. Do I want $12.00 a pound when I'm pulling in 100 pounds a day? Of course I do! It's just not sensible to expect that. Of course, if there is a big demand to go with the big volumes, then great! The pickers get rich, the buyers get rich, everyone's happy.......................... You can't set a base price. The pickers should be paid a set percentage of the value of the mushroom. This isn't the way they do it right now (although the big guys would like you to believe it is) I see two possible, overall solutions to the problem..................... 1 - Government regulation of the industry - Unfortunately, this would probably mean that we would be properly taxed on the mushrooms we sell... take the good with the bad........................ 2 - Strong, ethical competition - The industry has HUGE market potential. It is well worth it for a company to compete against the Joes. If someone were to come in and promise the pickers that they would always pay the set picker percentage of the value of the mushrooms, that company would take a huge chunk of the market.
Messages$20/lb for all (#1's to 5) matsutakes??? Can or US.?? I sell all (lobster, chanti's, pines ...) for $15 Canadian -clean and ready. Others sellers in Calgary market are at about $20-25 /lb. ps. what's a hopper?
MessagesLone lobo, many thanks. for taxes(U.S. or Can), what's your employment description called regrading mushroom ventures - sole proprietor forest harvestor? just curious what title i would use.

MessagesJust want to find out current price for Matsutake Mushroom ?
MessagesOh, sorry, I am looking to buy 100 lbs of each: Excellent quality dried chanterelles and lobster. We can pick up if you are in Southern Oregon. Email me at ccgabbie@msn.com. Thanks again.
MessagesI only eat Porcini, that is it, the rest are not at all interesting to me, I may try matsi's one day, but I don't know. My experience with the morels a couple of years ago quenched that desire...maggots! Remember that year, rain for days on end. It was gross. Porcini can be cut to figure whether they have worms. So can Matsi, but I don't know if I like the taste, I am going to experiment, if I have time. During season, I don't have time to cook =( Mac and Cheese, top ramen and sandwiches. LOL. Anyways, I am looking for fresh honey mushrooms, anyone have advice? Thanks!
MessagesThank you Matsiman for the site you provide,I truly am impressed.... big buttons to you
MessagesRobT; I am going to take this to the bull board because my response it getting longer than I had planned.
Messagesare your upper echelon restaraunts any where or every where in the Americas , and if so , do you deal with bobby flay, mario, kat cora or the japanese guy
Messageswhew Carla, I was afraid you were going to make me work .... hehehe
MessagesHi LoneLobo. I was teasing, you are definitely not the beaurocratic type... ;-)
MessagesRobT & Carla; I have no experience except for filing my own taxes and have no interest in working for any government that makes me have to do these filings to protect myself from entering a Gray-Bar-Hotel. .... I do the receipts because the Upper-Crust type of chefs, restaurants and specialty stores that I have dealt with need them for their records. .... The less expensive places that deal in basic foods are not willing to pay for quality gourmet mushrooms and will most likely purchase product from a picker who looks like they just came out of the woods/bush and not need the type of documentation receipt that the hoity-toity places do.
MessagesI was in the past a true matsi(pine) picker .et al I really am fuming at the injustice in the field and I will do something about it, but let it be known, the trillionairre joes ........retire there are other people that will make a difference and not just for profit!
MessagesHi LoneLobo. Keep talking like that and I will make you help me study for the tax board exam...LOL
MessagesLonelobo---- gee you should work for the IRS or REVCAN or anyone else who collects taxes, you are very organized!
MessagesHey jackie ... you are the first buyer I(we) sold to ..it was your first year, could you ever imagine such a good thing coming to this?
MessagesWildside; I forgot to mention that invoice books with the carbon paper sheet are a pain in the keister, I purchase the ones that have a white top page and yellow under page but never the three page variety and always ones that copy to the second page without a carbon sheet. .... I also do not use the little books because they are easily lost and will frustrate your chef, I use the books that are about 4" X 8" and give the chef the official looking top sheet with my name address and phone number stamped on it. ... When I am purchasing something I keep the top sheet and give them the yellow sheet so that I can easily see the difference in the book when doing taxes.
MessagesCould you give me a few pointers on time management, picking, selling, tax reports, I just don't have time to spend with my family!
Messageswildside; One thing I found when dealing with Chefs and restaurants, the more professional you look and dress the more likely of making continued sales. .... If your product looks nicer than what they have been seeing and it does not look like a lot of work to clean it up for cooking then you may develop a loyal customer. .... Some places may require that you have insurance but I have never had that happen yet. .... I always keep all of my receipts and write mileage down where ever I go for proof when I file my annual income taxes on my mushroom ventures, but then I file my taxes on everything I sell even if it is for cash at a buy station. From reading posts made here that apparently is not the norm. .... Also I purchase invoice books at a store because a chef or restaurant needs official looking records for their bookkeeper and taxes. .... If you sell in an area where there is a sales tax you do not need to collect such because the product is for business re-sale not home consumption. .... When I sell at a flea-market or farmers market I have to report state sales tax and obtain a license from the state.
MessagesRE not fooled- gee if the guy is a addict why would he turf away approx. $1000.00 ? were are you coming from dude, I only met the guy back in the early 90's and he seemed to be naive to me then. seems to me he finally figured that the big joe's are all B.S and has had enough !

Messageswhatsup with the contaminant shrooms? I don't get it Some of the less bright posters think threats will work and they get upset when they don't get their way 99.99% of these flamers leave when they realize we will not put up with them
MessagesI guess that because the big boys lost $$$$ in the early season due to wormies, I am to blame, although I neither picked nor sold, so if the big boy's feel that I still owe them monies, they should pursue their interest in a higher forum and notify me of their intentions forthwith.Until such notification is forwarded to the applicable jurisdictaries I (WE) feel the price of Matsies should be $20 /lb
MessagesGood Morning to all! Woofer thank-you for removing idiotic postings. Any person who thinks that sabotaging the shrooms they sell will solve our low prices for pines is not really seeing the whole picture and is more likely to create a Japanese Boycott of Canadian/ American suppliers. Remember that the Japanese are not setting the field prices on this side of the pond and therfore are not responsible for what is happening in our industry today. And by the way anyone caught altering a food source with injections or otherwise and selling that contaminated product is subject to criminal prosecution for thier actions. I hope that any buyer who catches anyone committing this act will report them to thier local authorities immediately, regardless of what company owns the station. I would also hope that anyone who sees this action being done will inform the stations as best as they can. This Industry does not need people like this nor do we welcome them. Keep up the great work you do.... Gerry L. Your welcome
Messagesi have to applaud tc...i havent picked a pine yet this year because of the price and i know many others havent either, but us not picking only makes a ripple, whereas a buyer revolting actually could make a wave. I hope that the joes will wake up and see whats going on and that we wont stand for it,but i dont think that is going to happen,we as pickers and the honest buyers, need to be able to contact the japanese importers of the pine and develop a new organization for the buying and selling of our mushrooms here in north america...by the way randy i applaud the co-op you are trying to spear-head,and i just want to say there are many of us in the US that want the same...full buckets to those of you who have to pick just for gas money to make it home.

MessagesWestwood, thanks for the nice compliment. Also pretty impressed with how everyone is starting to come together on the mushroom price debate. Everyone........ Keep it up. There is change a comming, It may be slow, But it will happen
MessagesWhat is going on with all you people... Mushroom stomps, strikes, guns, licensed & non licensed pickers...... This is insane. First and foremost mushrooms are a CASH CROP. If you place a bet on a horse and the horse doesn't come in ...tough. It's as simple as that. If you don't like the price, don't pick. You don't pay taxes on them, so every dollar you make is a whole dollar. The BIG money days are gone. Get over it. Having said that, I commend anyone who has developed their own markets etc. Actions speak loader than words........
MessagesHey TC, I'm a independent Buyer in Washington. I try to buy in a place called cougar. Their is only 1 buyer and he was only paying $5 for #1. So I got so pissed off I opened my car and started buying at $10 like you. This guy Jim got so mad he matched my price so I raise my price again and he got even more angry. I told him buy the next 2 days I'll be at $15. He got so mad he even threaten to kick my a..... It just goes to show you how much money the brokers are willing to pay when their is some one else trying to give the best price to the pickers. I also was a picker and got tired of the low prices. Keep up the great videos coming. It may help one day. Grumpy

MessagesHmmm...Is the truth starting to come out?
MessagesHey woofer i just went to your site really cool. We had a group meeting today about 75 of the 100 lisenced pickers. one of the guys said he would liek to see me in the woods some time LMAO. I said cool ill show ya around and by the way i carry 3 things with me at all times besides my lisence. 1 a can of Mace with the dye 2 a Very sharp Knife and 3 a Loaded gun he said Guns can be taken away from anyone and that he was a Retired officer. I told him i knew that the gun was for protection to whome ever thought they could take me down in the woods Grins. Anyway Matsis are popping here not in great numbers yet but for those who are aware we have noticed alot of unlisenced pickers picking them as we who are lisenced a majority of us re not picking for the price is Low and we do not want any one getting Jipped with out the Lube. so we are now taking action got our info we needed and have people in place of the buyer stations None of them are local. all either 1 hr away in any direction to stop the sellers who actually have a right to pick please do not get us wrong. but threw there actions are allowing others to get ripped off. i feel no one grows the mushrooms everyone who wants to pick should be allowed and the gov has no right to santion who picks or who does not pick . they wont even help out with a fair trade. allow price gouging or people to FIX a price . so why do we have to pay to get ripped off. Something has to change and if this is Joes fault then let it be on his head but here in oregon this is how we are starting to fight back. Local News stations and such may be interested in TC's stomp. but since i have no permission as of yet to send it in i cannot do so. Tammy
MessagesZed, here is one I was buffalowed by a breederto a cat called the Pixiebob. until resently i woke up. now since she asked me to lie about another breeder whom i didn't know i reconsidered everything this person had told me . WOKE UP and now am living better by trying to correct all my mistakes. maybe TC has been lied too as well? maybe he has had a change of heart because maybe TC has seen where he too was being lied too. Never the less im glad he is now looking to the trueth and has woke up. to Question his motives makes me wonder why your so sure he knew what was going on. some people walk blind in this world . some are lead. some are leaders. then there are those that like to just mislead. I think Tc was one who was lead to believe a lie and once he seen the trueth said Enough. Tammy
Messageswell i was compelled to watch the stomp videos and i must say they were interesting. TC i met you about 12 years ago in terrace and over these past years i have seen you again in Powell river and terrace. i must say that until now you towed the "bullshit line of the buyer " making outrageous claims about the big money and i really thought you were just a yahoo cowboy. one question to you TC, why the sudden change of heart? why the sudden conversion to honesty? just a curious picker.... zed.
MessagesI have a Question, What do you all think of the Buyers who are buying from NON lisenced Mushroom pickers while we lisenced pickers do a strike? well i know some pickers with videos Of illeagle buys. from NON lisenced mushroom pickers this last week at 2 a pound . excuse was NO licensed pickers are picking. DUH Guess WHY. So what do you think should i tell my friend to Report the Buyer ? Or Just ignore it ? This is a poll my opinion is he shouldnt of asked should have just gotten motivated on his own. But he actually likes the buyer. But not the new prices. im thinking Turn it in Buyers should ask for lisences Right? IS joe Buying from licensed buyers ? people who paid for the permits ? Might be a way eh ?
MessagesHELLO ALL!!!! KEEP SMASHIN THEM SHROOMS!!!! I LOVE IT. .....................SCOTT.....................SORRY MAN I HAVE BEEN WAY BUSY BUILDING MOMS HOUSE AND WORKIN (AND PICKIN WHEN I CAN). WAY GOOD!!!!!.........................ONE MORE THING CAME TO MIND. GOOD CANADIAN WEED IS PLENTIFUL AND I DONT SEE NO PRICES DROPPING.
MessagesWell a group of us here got together we are all gonna go out picking for the rest of the season. But we are only doing it to stop the illeagles from selling to buyers. Period . have a nice day TC from all of us Thank you .
MessagesI know that I said that I would no longer post here but after watching all of TC's video's I felt compelled to thank him.I must admit that after the first video I thought that it would be back to business the next day...how wrong was I! TC I realise that over the last several days you must have personally lost a few thousand dollars and you sure didn't do that for yourself! You are the first buyer that has put the pickers before yourself and I find that pretty amazing! If only the rest would follow your lead.Keep up the good work TC.TB
Messagesw0w lots of stuff on this board while I was on my matsi hunting, fishing and gold dredging trip to the Emerald River area, I see on the news that gold is at $732.78 this evening.... w00 h00 .... now it looks more difficult to wade through all the pasts than it was to wade the river.
MessagesI Salute you T.C. I read an article and I know that it`s true. That about 10 years ago the politicians came up with an idea that they could make alot of money. And take the money from people that work Hard for it. It looks like it`s working. I would like to see your video`s on the news. So more pickers and buyers that dont have access to computers can see this on the news and know where your comming from. I support you and your videos. MessagesHi 8Days. Truthfully you will hurt more than you help with these kind of antics...No supply is the best route!
MessagesJust in case some people missed it... Part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSMMThhltjM Part 4 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ3zfEwo1hw
MessagesPost deleted. This is your first and last warning, Any posts of this nature will never be tolerated or allowed. if you post like this again, Every post you make will be deleted on sight. Woofer
MessagesMatsiman. Yes I am interested. I currently sell only to restaurants, never to buyers. I also work w/the chefs that are interested on menus and new dishs featuring mushrooms. This is the way forward, I believe.
MessagesI said woofer had the right idea... can you read? Matsi causing miscarriage? Now thats a knee slapper! Our society awash in chemicals, pesticides, steroids, corp farmed food, etc and you point to matsi being consumed by less than .1% of the population that is experiencing significantly more miscarriages than say, Japan???
MessagesThe mushroom saga continues....part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT17Ro6X7m0 Look for part 3-4, pass it on.
MessagesTC is at least trying to do something, which is more than I can say about anyone else here in Terrace. What have you done to get people back into our communities supporting local business and enjoying our great outdoor's? As they say...Action's speak louder than words. Have you wrote your letter to CBC market place? How about the local paper? Do you even know the scope of economic loss or number of people and local business affected by this rip-off scam? Love him or hate him, you have to respect the fact he made a stand for the tens of thousands across Canada and US.
MessagesGreetings All, I've been watching the board a little more lately, and it seams everybody is looking for a better market, and by pass the broker and possibly the buyer. Yep I do wake up sometimes. Who would be willing to sell for $12.00 a pound, assortment of grades, and ship, buyer pays shipping. No worms, hoppers, brown gill and almost as clean as chef needs before preparing. Maybe each one of us, as individuals, and groups can develop our own "clients" here, and in different countries. I have a plan in mind, but won't pursue till I get some positive response. Thanks, Matsiman Oh yea woofer, no LEO, just the local deputy. Found some fresh pop, lower. Thanks for the info. I may make it there next week, but may end up taking a new guy to my lower patches by the cattle ramps to show him where and how to look for chanties and the oddball pine
Messagesfor all the people who are in support of tc look into the past and see what kind of person you are thinking is on your side. if you only new even half of it you would realize this person is not what he appears. a wolf in sheep clothing.
MessagesHi Chris. I don't eat mushrooms but since I buy huckleberries and do eat them I guess I am okay... LOL Once a very long time ago when I was just a little girl my dad ordered a pizza with mushrooms on it and I remember my mom saying that fungus was something you washed off your body not something you put in your mouth... Yes, I have been ruined every since! ;-)
MessagesHi TableTopper. I don't like french fries either... T.C. was not quota'd either. I happen to talk to him pretty often and I am 100% sure that he was not on a quota, since I know another buyer that was buying for the same company and she was not on a quota at that time, there wasn't enough coming in to get put on a quota...
Messagestable topper: If T.C. was really in it for the money don't you think he'd be down there buying like the rest of them????? You should really try to get your facts straight! The mushrooms stomped that night were what was entirely bought that day and none were shipped out and again it was at his own expense not his brokers money. TC and I have not opened our doors since, not because we were fired, because we choose to stand up for ourselves and our pickers and not buy at such low prices for pine, in the last four years we made our income on the different varieties of mushroom and exported them out of canada, there was no volume of other varieties this year. T.C. has started a new company this year and his doing well for his family, the mushrooms were once his life, but all good things come to an end, and with pickers out there picking for two dollars a pound they are making it a reality that will stay around. Besides table topper when you wake up and sit upon your table for the circus to watch get your facts straight so you don't look like the dummie!!!!!!!!
MessagesTabletopper, I was speaking about the buyers who do this for a living. Sorry to have not made that clear. Sorry for the typo. Do you have anything nice to say? I don't see you posting anything good about anyone...
MessagesTable Topper, I eat mushrooms. I used to eat over a pound a day but have cut back. Too much of anything can be a bad thing. My wife and I even believe the matsi from the bumper crop year along with the yellow bacteria that grew on them may have been able to cause a miscarriage. I am curious, do you spend the rest of your time complaining that lobster fishermen should eat all of thier lobster or perhaps that people who dont like fish should leave the salmon industry? I guess the only point you are really getting across is that you are a very bad mushroom picker because if you were any good at all you would realize there is no way to eat all you harvest.
MessagesGarf... I agree 1000% on your comments. It has been my goal to bring this fact to light in the eyes of the Gov't. There are many products out there that can be harvested on a yearly basis as well as seasonal and thier value to our economy is substantial. I would suggest that you speak with Kieth Hunter about this matter as he and his group have been working towards proving the value of these products on thier land. I had a very pleasant and rewarding conversation with him the other day and I would not hesitate to collaberate my own findings with his group and business. I am finding more of us who have the same sentiments regarding this issue and I would like to have a personal discussion with you regarding this matter if you wish. Again you can call me at 1-866-717-6677. A Great and safe Harvest to all.... Gerry L.
MessagesMatsiman, sounds interesting, We do have a bunch of bears up there. did you see that rain may be coming in this weekend? I may have to make run back up that way next week if I can
MessagesMarin . No problem, Sometimes its easy to get extremely passionette about topics, and I am just trying help keep the peace
MessagesMorning All, Got a bear story, but will wait till later. During the bear adventure, I was with a sheriff on the Westside. He is the deputy overseeing mushrooms. Guess what? He's been issuing citations and confiscating mushrooms. Yep here is one on the ball. Said the majority of violations are picking babies, and no permits. Guess the Asian pickers are the majority. Said one couple had nearly 100 babies between them, no permit, and a concealed weapon. They said they were for personal use, the babies that is. Didn't fly with the deputy. Personal use or not DON'T PICK BABIES here, or you'll get busted. Thanks deputy, I know you read here. Later, Matsiman
MessagesLet's put this in perspective. TC is working for the man. He got his quota filled for the day so he destroyed mushrooms that are worhtless to him anyway because he is in it for the MONEY. Just a circus act for the dummies in the stands. Good cop, bad cop... wake up ppl.
MessagesYou don't eat mush? Bahahaha! You should be buying french fries...
Messagesleave some for us jds ger
MessagesMarin...Good morning! Since you can read between the lines so well, please enlighten us all and reveal your insights. I'm headed out to the woods in a little while, to do what both us like to do..."being in the woods and getting paid to enjoy it". Have a good one.
Messagesi wonder if people realize that when the cartek or big buyers can consistently downgrade the value of canadian mushrooms it just gives the logging industry more firepower to go in and clearcut becuase now the value of the non forest resources of which the mushrooms are a huge part are not there anymore and its been this way for 3 years.... the argument on the other side being that because of no regulations it never was a valuable resource to the govenment but they aren't stupid and know that when the pickers make the money more of it goes back into the economy instead of the big buyers bank accounts..... and thats economics ger
MessagesHey you guys, what's happening to prices and quality in Terrace area. thanks T.C. for your video, is it worth while yet? Goodluck to everyone
Messagesok woofer, I understand the rules now! I'll get smarter! Marin
Messagesoaky guys, dont forget that JDS has every right to post his opinions here too. whether they are the same or different from yours. It is still a free forum and as long as sense of decorum is followed, then most matters related to mushrooms are allowed here. i personally try not to take side. ( there are some from here I have emailed and talked with a nd they know my feelings and opinions) But being a Mod means monitoring for contenet that is against board rules. And for the most part these have been followed and there has been minimal deletions and corrections, and most wh have had this happen understand our rules and dont mind this happening. 99.9999 % of cleaned up posts have been due to a persons strong feeling have come into to play. remember we are all trying to achieve the same goal, if albiet by different directions. Please everyone feel free to post what you want
Messagestom @ wild gourmet, who you hunting? Squirrel? Who?
Messagesgarf, I see you think JDS is south of you! What if he's west of both of us? Let's roll that idea around! Marin
Messagesdoesn't work that way up here ..... tc is a station that buys for a big exporter .... most are .... although there are still some freelance.... very few now .... these stations are supplied the money and have their prices set from the bigshots..... they lie so much to the buying stations and everyone else its unreal and people believe it or what .... some do.... tc finally had enbough of joe nadeaus bs and bought the mushrooms that woulda went to joe that night and stomped them in protest over low prices and lies told to him by little joe ..... the main reason little joe was so mad.... lol too bad joe but this is just starting.... let er rip tc.... ger no stations open here and maybe they won't ......not for this bunch of rats anyhow ger
MessagesIf you guys have'nt figured it out by now, I'll tell you. I do have an issue with this thing with be sh$t on by the (large exporters) and this is my vehichale for the frustrastions I have had buildt up in me trying to make MONEY!!!!!!!,picking mushrooms!Don't like that? To bad! I love being in the woods and getting paid to enjoy it! Marin
MessagesJDS, your job does suck!
Messagessundandzkidd, JDS?
Messagesyou know - TC is not the only person who has destroyed matsi before, kinda old news, been done before by several buyers i know of who had quotas filled before they could get to the main buyer in town, all TC did was make it all realistic and put an internet value to it, a loss on his part, but a reality for all who buy and stuck with a product that didnt make it to market in time.... good luck TC
MessagesI'm not going to far with this But I can read between the lines sometimes and JDS I still think You are a JACKASS! sincerly, Marin
MessagesHey Squirrel, you up in Terrace? I'll be in Canada Oct 1 - 21. Keen to get some exercise and fresh air. Also want to bring back some dried morels, matsutake, lobster & admirables. Drop me a line and let me know how to get in touch. - Tom @ wildgourmet . com
MessagesMorelmaniac...To begin with, I'll take back the comments I made about someone not having the "right" to destroy mushrooms that he has purchased. Let him do with them as he sees fit. My personal opinion is that such actions are counter-productive, and only serve to draw attention to the person in question. For a while the main topic of conversation on this board was buyers, and there was no end of people willing to bad mouth them. Then along comes one who destroys a bunch of beautiful mushrooms, and he's their new hero. Go figure. I'm a part time commercial picker, and I would love to see higher prices. But if a buyer has the right to destroy mushrooms, doesn't someone else (large exporters) have the "right" to pay whatever he pleases? There has to be some consistency of thought.
Messagesmmmm... Lobsters... Dry 'em. make some salsa and then throw them in. Dry. They recon in the salsa. Muy bueno.
MessagesHey Garf, Lynn and Ann lost old Betty's Markets and Have been selling to Spenser for 2 years now
MessagesWhats the price to post on the bull board?
MessagesHey, does anyone have any suggestions for preserving lobsters? I have more than I can eat in any reasonable amount of time. Wow...go away for a couple of days and things go wild around here...LOL it's been a busy week I see :>)

Messagesbest left to fester lol,ya can help but i garantee he/she wont apreciate you no more!
MessagesMorelmaniac...Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather keep the discussion here. I just came in for a quick lunch...will write more later. Stay tuned!
MessagesHi Carla, As I said, nothing is ever just black and white. There are always exceptions to everything. The old guy sounds like a cool guy. No doubt he shares some of the same reasons others here have for going into the woods. Also, I would say to anyone that says they don't like to eat matsis that you should try them plain on the BBQ. The best way to eat them. An especially nice way to celebrate the hunt. Tom in WA
Messagesthanks treeguy, I don't run into many porkey's because we have it's only natural preditor killing them. A Fisher will climb the tree and reach it's sharp claws under the unprotected porky belly and rip it open without getting any quills in it's paw, then eats it inside out. Were the quills easy to pull after the trimming or did they just fester out?
Messagesboston bar will be ready in a few weeks just gotta be patient. getting the rain and the wormy crap will be gone. Oct 10th man. Find Rob out in the mini zoo there he is always the best to sell to. --pine slayer
Messagesya, letting out the air was a much easier approach, gets rid of the air pocket, they dont fall out but it stops em from goin in further, darn dog all but busted my nose on that run lmao
Messagestreeguy; I am curious, did you see them fall out??? It seems to be impossible in my mind because the barbs swell out like an expanding hunting arrow tip once they encounter blood and just keep on penetrating until they get into the brain or cause other damage. Perhaps it has to do with cutting off the quill and opening up that hollow air pocket that might deflate the barbs. I really wish to know more about this as perhaps all dog lovers who walk the woods will also.
Messageslmao!,some of my first memories of shroomin have nothing to do with the "$",hell no!.Lets see;theres my first year ,traveled from my home town of P.R.to the nass.didnt know much, especially about porqupines. Most memorable day?Dog gets smoked by porqi, bout 50 odd quils from nose to shoulder.Had him pinned down on the nass camp lawn{all 20 ft of it}forfully rippin em out with vicegrips when this nice ladie comes along n says"if you cut off the ends the just fall out"Lmao.I am sure Keizer was thankful miss, poor bugger didnt sleep fer days n always disapeared when the toolbox was brought out after that!.theres one other person who shares this memorie but he had a litter last time i posted his name here. postin my email if he sees this he can drop me a line .tree_guy@telus.net .gotta go install fuel pump n reattach my box fuul buckets of memories to all and the adventures that go with em ppl >}}}">
MessagesHi TableTopper. I do not eat mushrooms and that does not mean that I should not be in this business.
MessagesHi somewhere in the olympics. There are indeed people who do not do this for the money. I have a pic |
