I have started picking them from April 3 and still picking them in the same patchy of beauty bark and there still new one coming up and for as cool and wet as it has been it looks to last two more weeks, but it's sad to say that the snow well be around some time. Im looking at four to five weeks late and really it looks bad even the pass well be late to open Ya Who at least my class of fifty well have there best start without those from the west side getting there first and even those with jeeps and other 4x4's will not be able to go off road tell June 18th and everyone must stay on green dot road tell all trails are dry. What I have been reading on 410hwy well not be open tell sometime in June as well. Yakima now has a mushroom club and there web site is YVMS.org.
Sally just went to post office, found eight more. A couple were about 4 1/2 inches tall! Almost got yelled at for being in someones beauty bark in their front yard. By the way TK, we live in the Parkland area, and love to eat and hunt the elusive mushroom. Full buckets to you too!
It's good to see other people here in Tacoma enjoy picking and eating morels! Full Buckets to ya, BrucenSally!!!
Just wanted to say that we have found a total of 223 morels in three different spots in Tacoma. In beauty bark of course. Sure beats driving over the mountains.... oh well, going there in a few weeks anyway.
bmburden i heard that carl had died about a month ago due to a heartattack.. He will be missed....he was a great man..may your spirit watch over the patches for us... :)
what happened to carl. he was a field manager for joe chong.
RE: RIP Carl........... Which "Carl" is this? I hope it's not buyer Carl Houck (sp?). Please clarify.
RIP Carl..........The wife and i are getting some naturals from our back yard garden but they are low quality from the cold. Alberta James is also here trying to get some fiddle head pickers out there but at the price of gas i dont believe its worth it. I have been falling on the north coast to keep the cash flowing and am growing concerned about the snow melt :(......the river is so low that the fish fry are emerging in bare gravel and dieing...this will affect the return of the future northern run fish stocks.....we need heat but not enough to flood.....good luck all....and may your buckets be full soon
Anyone know how to reach Rob Fisher? thx
Keep your powder dry! Figure your gas, wear and tear on vehicle (and tires) and time in before you go out for a few pounds. A local jaunt might pay--but not the distances. May pay in May.
Greetings from the still cold Northeast. ., yesterday we had an early snow dusting and latter a slushy morning, I had to sop once to wipe my windshield ,the snow had the consistency of mud . I'm crazy busy building a very large glass greenhouse , what a bitch , however that's not why I have been purposefully kept myself away from the board ., the truth I don't want to heard that you guys are finding mushrooms, I'll be envious . Anyways I'll start to look next week, still looks pretty crappy though, no green on the forest floor or the trees and the apple trees still look dormant. Hope all is well and be safe out there .
Found about a lb of morels in beauty bark here in Tacoma today!!!
Weird season for Morels. Got back from Va. on Thursday morning via a 125 mile tow truck towing. Seems my lug nuts were improperly place on and all the lug nuts sheared off and I lost my wheel at 40 mph. Foruntaly the tire got hung up on the front quarter panel and kept the car up til it stopped. Talk about lucky. So It is in the shop now. we managed to pick about 10 pounds of mixed black and blondes over those 2 days. As luck would have it i also have to replace a rear balding tire and then on top of that my hours at work got cut 65% for next week. Can you say OUCH! Now I have the time to look but I dont have the money to afford gas to hope and look around here where i live. Hey Randy hope all is well, would love to call u sometime but not sure where u r? Duncan in da burgh!
Been to the forest service lately? Check it out!! Yeah Yeah do this do that. Who has gas anyway. I listened to them talk but I just didn't get it. We did agree on one thing weather is warming up. Duh
Apparently the Binta Lake fire elevation is only 850 metres,or 2800 feet, and although there was a lot of lodgepole pine,it was a mixed bag.If the weather would warm up it wouldn't take long for it to start producing. :-)
Boletus Joe, http://www.kitco.com/market/ shows the high price today for AU @ $1,500.00 per troy ounce. Perhaps in digging the garden or some other local area you might do better with gold than chasing the morel trail this summer? If you Email me I might be able to help if you are near any of the locations that I am aware of.
BTW... I heard some guy is trying to make fuel from all the morel nuggies that are left in the bottom of the buckets. If any one knows any more about that, Please post a link here. To bad we couldn't figure a way of getting some of the power from the power lines on the Clinton fire to work for us last year....
$1.31.9 a liter as of this morning...... in Can (imperial) gallons that comes to $5.93.5 a gallon... and/or $5.27.5 a US gallon.... I would guess by summer it will be $1.50 + a liter. And I'm talking about lower mainland prices. Not sure what diesel costs. I get about 25 mpg on my truck without my trailer, sooooo... that's about .24 cents a mile. This is getting very expensive. We'er staying home this year. Hope you guys can find enough to pay for your expenses. Planting the biggest garden ever.... :)
Hey Garf, What is the snow situation on the roads higher up towards Devine? Black Water ect..
Low lands have Morels and some Shaggy manes popping but not up high. Looks to be late june before anyone can get up to 3500 feet and snow is still fall at 1500 to 2000 feet and temps here in the low lands is below Noam by 10 to 15 deg.in the mean time well be teaching others on the best way to hunt and keep others from finding where they go.
Rob fisher,m and m want to reach you mike@vancouverislandstone.com

Hi All! heading to the Mts of Virginia this week to pick some morels. Spoke with my uncle yesterday and said he has been finding them since the third week in March. so i will probably find the end of the blacks and the beginning of the blondes i hope. Going to check out a 400 acre fire from last year. no its not out of the way so I will see if the east coast fires produce morels or not. lots of people said they doubt that I will find any. Who know until i check right. peace all to my peeps and full buckets ahead! Duncan in da burgh!
Someone mentioned awhile back that there was a dietmar missing, check out iammissing.ca, there is information there. I hope it's not him, but it could be.

I found my first 18teen morels about and hour ago along a north wall by a store in bark as I stop to buy a pack of Camels. "The hunt is on"
buyer & pickers board, and like I said it was there and then gone. I also seen it pop-up on the mad morel board. It was like a "phantom spam"
'Phontom' , which board is the spam on? I have three. Later, Matsiman
Right after I posted and Submit my Comment and took one more look IT WAS Gone? has anyone else seen this? I know I saw it and so did my other half.
Andy, there is spam on the Board in Keith (Hunter) The word 'Hunter' is in pink and it says you found the egg at 11:03:58 a.m. on March 31st you won also under the word 'pound'@ 6:24:18 a.m. on April 1 and on April 5 @8:09:41 p.m. under the word "Quebec"
umm so i heard a rumour that Carl (joe chung area manager) has died..does anyone know if that is the truth or............ if it is our thoughts are with him he was a good man...
Pascal, Are Martin and Sebastian coming to BC this year?
I like that show 'American Pickers' and now they have 'Canadian Pickers'. Would love to see a 'Mushroom Pickers' with danger behind every tree. :) Even "Beer Can Pickers' would be cool!
am going to pick in BC this year :) if you someone cant tell me a go place to go for the buyers ;) thx Pascal
Yup....looked in the cupboard yesterday and realized just how much more I should have dried!I use alot thru the winter for comfort food awaiting the taste of fresh pines!
I hope more people are set up to dry mushrooms this year. If Everyone who could pick more that 30 pounds a day was set up to dry when the prices were low we might see better prices. Build your screens and dryers now while we wait for the season to start. It is going to be an interesting year! I hope everyone is well!! :)
season about to start get your beaters runin bc a great place to pick this year where will the early birds gather have fun
whatz the price?
buyer is your angle to drive the price down? it is so typical of cartel buyers to do that every year
Hey Steve from oregon...havent seen the reality show but I did see his mushrooms selling for around $35 a pound!!! Nice job I guess if you can get some people to pay that price. 6 pounds for $199...that would shure pay for the gas!
