Slim; I imagine that the reason for past postings here on this board about wanting pickers who would consent to being filmed while picking and handling matsutake mushrooms could be related to your idea of promoting product from another country. They could make a documentary of what might be considered dirty picking practices and then compare it to picking practices showing clean hands and clothing in another country and thus they could present a skewed, controlled view that their matsutake mushrooms are superior.

I was hoping that anyone who picks or buys on vi might be able to shed some light on where any buyers are set up? I've been reading this board almost religiously every day in hopes of coming across some info. I'm fairly new to the island and would love to make some good conections. Any and all help would be very much appreciated. Good luck to all

mushroom hunter cali, It depends upon where you draw the line between Eastern & Western Oregon. If Eastern to you means east of the Cascades Ridge then the answer is yes they do grow prolifically at times as well as in NorCal. To me Eastern Oregon does not start until the middle of the state, matsutake mushrooms do grow there as well as fall varieties of chanterelle & porcini, but it is often 'SLIM PICKINS'. It is common knowledge that buyers who set up for the season along highway 97 in Oregon can usually be found at the Junction to Diamond Lake, Chemault, Crescent, Silver Lake Junction, La Pine, sometimes at towns further north depending upon current conditions. But that is as far east as I have seen buy stations set up in the fall in Oregon, of course roving buyers might be meeting up with their favorite pickers most anywhere the volume is beneficial for profit and I for one will not share my favorite areas. Savvy pickers might ask their favorite buyer for "RETRO", this used to be a common practice back in the 90's when the price might rise more than $100.00 in any given evening and there were perhaps 60 buy stations set up in or near to Crescent Lake Junction. I think that we shall never see prices of perhaps $600.00 per pound for #1 grade pine again at Crescent Junction with all of the global competition where pickers might pick for pennies or peanuts. As for prices, they can and do often change in a wink of the eye several times each day, especially if there is competition among exporters. Lets imagine that the Joes' started putting their heads together at coffee in the mornings back about 1997 and perhaps they allegedly "fixed" the daily pine price for each given region while taking over the exportation, gradually the price drops to unbelievable lower prices. North Korea and China were coming on as big players until the Japanese curtailed their exports, that may have changed. Many other countries also have entered the game. I believe that the highest prices for matsutake now may be found in countries where the pine quality is seen as being the very best and the harvesters perceived to be of cleaner toilet and picking habits. Personally I feel that it may be a matter of marketing perception similar to an old 'Shell Game', thus pine purchased in a lower price area could conceivably be passed along for premium value.

Hey there folk ., Holly shit , we got pelted on the north east and I mean pelted , 2 plus feet of snow on my house and the trees with green leaves still on them , !!! fricking breakage all over. a healthy sugar maple three fell into my brand new slate roof , shit , even the ice storm of a few years prior didn't cause this much damage , it's crazy shit around , I though i would give them pines a final pick, however I can't see trough that white stuff . it's not that bad on the shore , however I can't just go now and pick the shore I got to stick and do some cleaning around the farm and the house , well folk if you go by the matsiman posts it seems that you just may have a season after all . full buckets to you !!

Zero luck with a pop in the Pines so far, but just-can't-stay-out-of-the-woods!!!! The thrill of the hunt, the peacefulness, the anticipation all call to me, so far for myself & others I know it's been mainly a bust, Pine wise, here in Powell River. Still...hoping for a major pop, just like everyone else! Lots of Chanty's & Lobster still. I even strayed out of forest & into a field for a short jaunt walking the dog the other day & came across shaggy manes & Death Caps! So that was at least something, I left the caps & picked the manes for something different. Of course those were personal as they decompose rapidly. I sauteed the young ones in butter & garlic...a little bitter, but OK I guess as something different. Full buckets everyone!

Shroomkid was talking about developing market locally, I agree it might work for everyone. I'm in Calgary trying to buy 20 lb of pine mushroom but I can't get them anywhere. Of course I can't pay the money japanese buyers pay, but I don't care that much for # 1 buttons, I could use nr 2 or 3 as long as they're worm free. I could probably get more fresh ones and some dried too. I tried to contact sellers from this website but havent got any response. Anyone interested please send me an e-mail at agricard@shaw.ca

Thank god i won't be around to see the last of the big trees go .... it will take them awhile to figure out how to defy the majority of the people in favour of the corporations ... look at what goes on ...ipps that really are just a sell out of our water resources to big corporations most not even orginating in BC ...eg General Electric ... smart meters that really are for one reason only ... and thats to raise rates at prime use hrs... as the manager of the smart meter program Gary Murphy has been quoted as saying that time of use billing is a SLAM DUNK .... it will help pay for the 4 or 5 times the current rates hydro is signing with the IPP contracts for ... and now hydro wants to take on the risk ... and now we have the flu like virus appearing in west coast wild salmon that orginated in fish farms in Norway ... one of the only provinces that doesnt protect at risk spieces .. the list goes on and on ... west coast tanker traffic carrying dirty oil from alberta ... fracking for natural gas in northern bc .... thats why i just go out and enjoy nature and try not to think about what the governments and corporations are doing ... that is now up to the younger folks to figure out ... gl on that .... on a happier note we do live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet and its not too late to save some of this grand natural enviroment ... write your MPS ... things can be changed by the masses ... they only want to be re-elected and most would sell their mothers to do it... so if they thought saving some more of this natural splendour would do it ... well enough of this rant ... full buckets all enjoy the woods

Apparently there are now 7,000,000,000 people in the world. This is up ONE Billion from 1999. So if we consider just how much logging, mining, fishing etc. has gone on in the past 12 years.... just think how the next Billion souls will impact this old ball. I can only say that at the rate they are logging here on the coast there will be bugger all for patches in the next few years.... lost plenty last year and I see 3 patches ribboned off just in the past month. When will this insanity end..... THere is just no where left to go....

Hi thechef, sorry for being a little glib the other day. Look for doug firs, pines, a little red cedar, hemlocks both heterophylla and the other one, and vaccinium and gaultheria, and fairly sharp drainage. If it looks like a road underneath the moss and duff, with some orangey-brown tint to it, then that's a good start. if the mycelium is active, it makes the ground look a little bit steel grey-blue under there... (there is some excellent stuff on this website about it - spend the time checking it out! this site is absolute genius!) Now you have to put in the boot-miles and literally get your fingers dirty. :) Good luck! Full buckets!

Hi gennda, it depends on how sweet the patch is - how much fog the area gets, the lay of the land, and how much shade, or fern and shrub cover is left. you might get one more year, and I would still go look the second anyway, just for poops and giggles, if you're an amateur like me. if you're a picker going to make money, don't bother, unless you have curiosity to satisfy. :) then, go back in 20 years after regen or replanting. (you can start looking again at 15 years). some of my fave patches from the last decade and a half that got logged, will be prime again by the time I'm semi-retired, unless there are houses on them.

Scruff, thanks for the pep talk! You're right! We have to start picking the other ones too, and develop relationships with chefs to help us develop a market, and more importantly a hunger and a taste for them - like, get them onto the radar screen of the people who can afford to pay us for our mushroom hunting addiction! :) Thanks Scruff! :)

Hello thechef, it's pretty audacious to ask like that. Take some time to learn what you can first, maybe join the mycological club, read the literature, and take some time to learn, like every single one of us on here has done. Then, make some friends, or contact your chef friends here on VI and maybe they'll take you out, if you'll take them out to a spot on SSI. it takes some time. :) the last two years were super pine years here, and any tom and harry could wander through the patches and find some. this year is an ENTIRELY different beast - one small button in an area that produced almost a hundred for me last year, yesterday, after work. it was this week last year that it popped like that. if you go to Duncan, it is so competitive up there, and the commercial pickers who don't have regular jobs are hovering. it was unreal last weekend. nobody found one. maybe still too warm though. it was only today that my hands felt cold enough to hurt, and that is one the indicators I have learned. good luck! :)

Hi all, I live on Saltspring Island and would like to try picking some Pine mushrooms on Vancouver Island in the Duncan area but I have no idea where to start looking. Would anyone like to share some tips on how to choose a spot. Specifically I was wondering what elevation at which times of year and what slope orientation is best, or if anyone wants to share a spot that is already public knowledge, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Well folks...Thought it was the beginning but it is looking more like the end. Not hardly any pines out there. Still some good Boletes popping here and there. Buyer in PDX was paying 20/lb last night for pine. They had accumulated appx 20 pounds in two days. One Asian man had a small bucket with just itty bitty (2 inch or less) buttons. Maybe twenty of them. Don't think it was much weight. He said he picked in Oregon. That bucket was the only pines at the buyers' location. The rest was Chanties. Dreary ;( On a good note, the weather out here is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Not a cloud in the sky today, about 33 degrees this morning and warmed up to about 55. Tomorrow more of the same. Full buckets and good luck, matsigurl

I generally work the area along Hwy 410 and Bumbing River Road. I don't get out very often, but have been to some proven areas, without any luck at all. Even the white chantrells have been sparse and no Boletus. I think it will be a poor year for Matsutakes. Hit a bundle of them last year in one location.

I love these postings that give reasons for low buying prices. Twenty-five years and new ones come like the fall rains. "Price down because major buyer has heart attack" LOL. Please! I am not making fun of you. I don't do that sh_t. It is just amazing the new ones every year. I have heard everything from Emperiors dying to Japanese don't eat mushrooms every 21 years and that peticular year was that year. I am surprised that they don't knock off dollars for a fuel surcharge yet. First basket flies free?? Man. you just got to laugh and take it up the hoop and go back looking because we are all addicted to that white fools gold. Aint we having fun!! See ya in the bush---Powell River Jack

ts for the picture Matsiman ... doesn't it just make you want to be there??? Wonder if it was very recent or earlier as it has been late if at all almost everywhere on the west coast ... i would say patches are coming in very sparsely and most not at all .. anyhow its nature and there is no changing that ... one of my big concerns right now is for the BC salmon and the virus they have found in some wild fry along the coast ... it is a virus that originated in Norway and virtually wiped out the fish farms and wild salmon in Chile.. there has been no cure found to this point and it has west coast biologists very worried ... it is flu like and kills and spreads very rapidily once established ... no cures ,, no eradication... think its time to get all the fish farms completely contained and quit listening to their spin doctors... almost as bad as the tabacco industry spinners we had for years .... and thats my rant for today ... full buckets ... if interested just goggle it ... virus in BC salmon ,, i havent done that but something should be there ,, its not just a rumour

I can't believe what i hear about people saying about lawrence from the nass.Yes he did bring two friends into his own patches because of his pre existing allergies to pines but they were his own patches and they picked the same poundage that he would have picked if he were on his own.The two new pickers have no intentions of ever coming back and were only here for the same adventure that we all started picking for.As for him looking for a piece of ass...these kids are younger than his own and if u knew anything about the man then u would see that realationship for what it was.....helping out a couple of greenhorns who reminded him of his own kids.As he spent many years as a forester,he is reponsible for showing more people solid picking areas that they would have never found on their own and has allowed alot of marginal pickers to make an honest living with his assistance. If u know the man then u know what a load of crap that post was and should be deleted from this forum as the venom that is spouting from that previous poster has no place on a site like this. nass picker

And what a person should do with a prediction like that is try contacting friends in the area and find out, its like using it for a sense of timing. And, if you have any in that area they could tell you what is happening....or, check the weathernetwork and see for yourself what temp changes, etc. I was referring to. I didnt mean to lead anyone astray, but if my kreskin-like abilities are misinterpreted by some low-brow nitwit who assumes they should mortgage their house to fuel up and run to Boston Bar, Im not gonna lose too much sleep over it. I was simply directing my statement and discussion with the other adults that use this site.

Hi one of the button bunnies. Can't really speak on PR although it IS just across the water, but sometimes their season is different than ours, especially when pines are concerned. As for my side, the pines are nowhere to be seen. But the chanties are helping pay the bills for now. I will post if the pines come, but like I said before, that one probably won't make it onto Matsiman until after I've had a pick or two, or ten...there may be a long period of silence actually...teehee. But in all seriousness if you do want some discreet info, shoot me an email at mymatsutake@gmail.com

The Randle buy stations are maybe getting 15 to twenty lbs of pine per day, there are three buyers so if you slit that three ways? It's still a no show in Randle! Maybe the pine will come, maybe they won't! It is still to early to tell, every picker out there in this area is struggling right now! Always saying tomorrow will be better, maybe next week! Take it for what it is and hope that tomorrow is a better day than today was! Good luck people!

Jimbo! Were you just trying to trick me? Ah, j/k...I can tell you this. I looked high and low today. I had on at least 10 pounds of raingear including the water that gathered in the folds of my hip waders. I traveled through the washouts and even hung up a few orange ribbons just in case my up became down. I looked in the old and sought out some new. By the end of the day, I was plumb tuckered out. Oh yea, I didn't find one pine anywhere on that hill. A couple of blown out Kings here and there. Maybe I even noticed a few more noticeable holes where there could have been a mushroom (pines?). Mostly though I noticed that there were still some spider webs and not a lot of ANY fungi growing. Still too warm? Supposed to be a cold front coming in by next weekend. Maybe that will coax them out of hiding? Anyways, full buckets to all...matsigurl PS my buyer in PDX says he has seen six pounds of pine all season (one pound each from six different pickers). DREARY! :(

I heard the price dropped to $12 a pound because of shipping at that price wont even make gas money back we had 11 safeway bags full and our buckets to, 3 of the bags were buttons $25 a pound we made $550 for alot of hiking and driving. It was worth it but if it was half the price a pound its not worth it, its alot of weight to carry. lots of pine still but money went downhill.. happy hunting and full buckets to all.

hey there folk ., Garf the coastal trip went well ., however it was a bit more labor intensive that the interior hunt , in the interior I was getting a few 2 pounders and plenty of 0.5 pounds plus matsies , hell you could make 50 pounds with 100 mushrooms, the coastal pick was different they were smaller and full of wet sand , shit it takes 10 minutes to clean a mushroom , anyways 30 to 40 pounds days was about the norm , those buttoms are primo shit , so it is well worth the effort , ok., enough of this , be well my friend .

Sorry Shroomkid, I have no recipes for Slippery Jacks. Their texture more or less repulses me so I dismiss them outright. I know that to some they are a desirable edible but they are just too slimy for my liking. As for other Boletes, I eat them with a fervor dressed up any old way whoever is preparing them sees fit - I even eat mini Kings on the go like popcorn in the bush...

August; I spoke with the buyer at his station that I recently gave you the cell phone number for, there were three other buy tents set up. They are getting a few pine coming in from over the mountain at $20.00 for #1 but nothing local yet at that time, high price for yellows was $2.00. I hit my favorite patches in the area and if I did not know them from previous years I certainly would have found them from all the lobster trimmings and chanterelle stem-cuts left by other foragers who must think that they are the only ones in the woods. I got to the Ranger Station at closing but was still able to obtain my permit. I did not get to the patches until after 5:00pm and foraged until dark. I picked enough yellows to fill a five kilo lyche from one little patch that they had missed, that is enough to prepare and save for Thanksgiving in case I don't have time to get back there again soon, I arrived back home by 1:00am ......... shroomkid; yepper I have also found good areas by stopping to pick up trash left by others. It was about 20 years ago down near Cave Junction when I first observed this phenomenon and since then when in a new area I watch for such patch indicators. One area of Oregon was flagged so much with blue tape that I named it "blue-flag-matsi-mining" on my map. ........ Carla; Lots of driving this past week, we stopped and visited with August on our way to Arizona, arrived in Flagstaff by Columbus Day evening, picked up the rental truck the next morning, filled it with the wife's things and then when I got to Idaho I loaded some of my stuff for a day and then spent another 12 hours driving home, arriving at 4:am on Friday. It was a very long week and I will be sorting and arranging 'stuff' for many more weeks but at least I got an hour and a half of picking yellow chanterelles on Monday of this week. My wife was ill on Monday so I borrowed her car as it gets much better MPG and only checked patches that were a short walk from paved roads.

Hey cranberrydawg, how do you cook up or preserve slippery jacks? It's a good year for them up here, but I haven't tried them. My chef friend says they're pretty good... but does them in a Russian way, with oil and vinegar, like pickling, but it doesn't appeal... :) Any suggestions? And, preserving them? Thanks!

Fresh chanties...solid poundage...my side of the hump lol. Boletes a plenty, especially Slippery Jacks. Big honker Kings as well but they are growing too fast... easy target for the flies. What is the gestation period of them damn eggs anyway? Or can we call it that? Matsiman? Anyway all the Boletes are wormy as hell. But it is the first time this year that they have been in full bloom. And like I said before those little pinkish Russulas are everywhere. But, the long and the short of it is, I still see no pines...sigh.

Hello I live on the Oregon coast south of tillamook and am an experienced mushroom harvester. I am looking to see if I can find someone interested in buying golden chanterelles, king boletes (porcini), lobster, and occasionally cauliflower mushrooms. All my mushrooms are cleaned upon harvest and would be guaranteed fresh. If this is something you might be interested in please e-mail me back at that_guy_willie@hotmail.com with the prices you would be willing to pay for these fine, delicious mushrooms. Thanks, Will

hi salalguy, salal and ev'grn huck are a couple things I tried for two seasons, about 10 years ago. it is very competitive (moreso than mushrooms!), and most florists have regular sources. However, the market for wild greens of all kinds is fairly open, and specially so for the invasive laurel leaf daphne. here in BC it's not uncommon now to see it in arrangements. I recommend you do some leg work, and phone florists. 5 big ones, 5 small ones, and ask them what price they pay the pickers and the brokers, if they will tell you. Then average them out, and charge that. Orrrrrr, you can ask them to email you on a weekly basis for their wish list, or if they will take your "menu" on an email basis. it would be really handy to know some landscapers too. That is my trade, but I have a reg. job doing it now, so no customers with neat shrubs. when i had my little biz, I had to make 3 phone calls and leave a messages every week, to my 3 florists, to let them know what i had in the trailer. takes a while to get a relationship like that going. similar to mushroom picker and buyer/chef/customer relationship. ask their advice on what they are looking for too - it will almost certainly be different for each florist. And get permission on forest land, or whoever is the owner/logger of the TFL, or private land. powerlines are generally good for anyone, but might want to ask first. might even be a contract available! :) good luck! formosa30@shaw.ca for any further advice.

Chemult $22 tonight. East side P. Pine new buttons are chalky & small,..... there are new ones coming but punky and tight, those big yellow bellies on the edge of the park are usually a good indicator patch and it was fairly weak .....Red fir/Doug fir new buttons on the crest from the Park to D. to S. to C. Lake are firm but they don't look like they're gonna run. Fair amount of punk buttons, but just that. Hit the heavy Rhody patches too and just tight little nickle buttons on the crest and west side right now. It's maybe pickable at $22 but I don't see those 1/2 pounders lurking. One tough year. Kudos to Matsiman ;-) as it is ......out!

I'm tired of these guys telling how they are getting their money worth on going up to mountians, i have been out there for the last 8 years and counting only to find out that some years is ok and most sucked..but no money saved justed on gas and food and pennies left. Yes you can make money on the buying side but now it depends on how and who you are buying for.!!. i will not name any names or companies but watch out and becareful with false hope and make sure you get your commision on time or on top when they wire you the money to buy..!! I have drop 1 company and will be buying for another and you can see me at randel this year. No BS ...I will tell you if you ask how much i make. I was a picker too and know how hard it is and feel for these guys that goes out there everyday and they need to get paid as i would like to if i was out there. What i won't do is drop my price just because the other buyer has drop his so he can make more.!! I buy for whatever the company tells me to and stay that way. Good luck Skeena picker...hope to see you on this side soon.

i cannot believe what i read, popping 21 or 22 because the weather network says so. people dont listen to buyers that can predict the pop .what they want is for you to come running, pick gas money and if alot fall for it you make him money.OLD TRICK. no big pop will happen. the next line is can i borrow gas money to get home.ive picked bb for 25years and i may not be one of the greatest pickers but mark my words south coast is a bust this year. ive been tricked by mother nature in past and will be again. but not this year. buyers work for JOE not pickers. boletes you are right on the money about buying. full buckets guys

tarp resider (some info. needed please to make sure its yours or are you a cowardly bullshitter? If not then thanks for some of the good stuff ... BTW stick to mushroom picking, your carpenter skills suck! pack out what you pack in or Karma 'll get you wherever ! Anyone seeking to make a true effort in becoming an enterpeneur, GO FOR IT!, do the research first. don't let negativity slow you down especially here. don't limit the research or product and ask around in as many circles possible. We've changed from being just pickers to picker/seller and have made great connections and decent money along the way. If you can make progress in the mushroom world, you can make it anywhere as its that tough. More so if your honest which is the best way to go. Happy Trails.

I have a newer 3/4ton truck. 2k wouldn't be a problem to invest. I quit picking for a number of years, I wouldn't go out picking for less then $10 per pound. I am thinking of building an 800 sqaure foot building to dry mushrooms. I sold yesterday at $24, 10, 4, 2, 1 I think if you paid $5 per pound on the lower 3 grades for drying, you could make a lot of cash that way. The pickers would also benefit from the flags. It just takes a solid market; how do you want it? Slices, shredded or graded. Just as an experiment, I dried some shrooms and cooked them up, not to complex. Happy picking

So you want to be a buyer...... if you have picked you now how that is, Now add keeping your accounts balanced, getting your product to the airport on time, getting screwed buy your end Buyer, dealing with all the different cats that are going to jump on you as soon as they think your grading is a bit off, or when they think you trying to screw them because the price dropped from yesterday, And perhaps the odd guy that thinks he might want to stick a can of bear-spray in your face and take your money........ and it really isn't your money anyhow. Plus you have to put everything in baskets with the right weights, and grade. and end up getting about 3 hours sleep a night. MAN I would rather be picking..... But I will give you your due if you can do all that..... BTW, do your math at the end of it all you will make less than minimum wages... Mind you if you are any kind of writer , you might be able to publish a best seller about what it takes to be a Mushroom Buyer. Shit I hate being negative. I will say this on the positive side. There are some (a few) really GOOD buyers out there, and the have my full respect. I only hope you all have a little love for those special buyers, YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE..... Hit it hard today, got up at 4:00 am and was on the trail up the MOUNTAIN by 8:00am (3 hour drive) three of us found 1.08lbof pine by noon. Went down to the low lands and picked 18lb of yellow chanties and 3.5lb's of lobster, made $90.00 that was split three ways. I did not make any money today, the thirty for my share went into the gas tank before I ever left Tacoma! I'll try again in five or six day's! :( ps, didn't get home until 9:oopm DO THE MATH!!!

Hey Marin...haven't seen any sign of Rick yet. I did hear there was a buyer over at the Lone Fir but have yet to see him. Maybe could be Rick, I thought I saw his truck up on the hill. I will talk with Adam tomorrow and let you know. Still no pop up here but it just started raining again tonight and the temp dropped quite a bit. This is good. And I saw GOBS of Russula and yellow coral all over the place so that is definitely a good indicator. Keeping hope alive. Full buckets, matsigurl

Matsies at Cougar?!?! Oh yeah. Lots of them. Mile marker 22. Turn left at blue pop can (left by bear grass pickers) Go two hundred yards to Toshiba TV (left by tweekers) , From there you must go down hill cause all %^$# runs downhill. Once you get there head to the rainer beer can (left by american loggers 20 years ago) . The you will arrive at the place that used to grow nice mushrooms. But now is blasted all over the internet by attention starvered dumb^&%$'s cause they can spell, maybe put some sentences together that rymes. (i think they call them fell'as rappers) . MUSHROOMS GROW IN THE WOODS PEOPLE!

Will do button bunny, but realistically unless you have a solar powered four wheel drive and can go long periods without eating, there is not much point coming to pick mushrooms on the coast (Chanties anyway). When you factor the $5.50 a gallon for gas and the overall insane cost of living around here, there is little chance to earn a living at this anymore. But if you do come, look me up, I have a stash of space pills and an electric scooter with your name on it

I guess I was a little optimistic in my prediction about Wednesday. Still nothing; hopefully soon. Would like to explore some of my tried and true ridges in and around the mcbride washout and the equestrian camp that sits at mp 7. Haven't gotten a rest from the kings to make it that far. It was a beautiful, crisp, clear day today. I saw lots of pickers and lots of empty buckets. BUT after all is said and done, I always remember it isn't about getting what you want. It's about loving what you got. And I must say I sure love having two good legs to walk with and the opportunity to explore every inch of what I consider to be paradise...pure paradise.... full buckets, matsigurl

Hi all...... just wanted to say I have been a picker for the most part of 20 years...... I remember first starting out, and the prices were crazy.... going from 80$ a lb. to one year being over 300$ a pound. Now it seems the mushrooms are fewer and farther between. Where they used to grow has either been dug up by inexperienced pickers using rakes or logged. The weather changing seems to be making a difference as well. Other than for the pure fun of it, and just getting some exercise, fresh air, and enjoying finding a buried treasure now and then...... it isn't even worth the 2.50 or so a pound to even make a trip anywhere now to pick. Costs more in food, supplies, and gas then the value of what you have in your bag at the end of the day. Crandawg... from one to another who used to be a grief pointer..... Good luck to you man... maybe you can keep me posted on whether it's worth the trip down from the Okanagan.

Hi Garf, I went high and low but found nothing. I'll give one fresh patch of rusulas credit for getting my hopes up but that was all the excitement before exhaustion set in. August was better! It will happen but it just isn't there yet. We need some night freezes in our area and weather nobody wants to pick in. Allmost there. My best days have been when snow was falling.

Well, another day in Cougar. And another day with not a single pine in my bucket :( OH WELL...It isn't Wednesday YET. I predicted Wednesday last week. And I still say maybe WEDNESDAY. It was considerably colder up on the hill today. I saw A LOT more of every other mushroom that grows up there. That alone was the best sign so far. And it rained. Boy oh Boy, did it rain. Hard rain all day long. Matsi growin', washout makin', creek refillin', cougar hillin' kind of rain that we get up here. So tomorrow I will be hopefully telling a whole different story. Full buckets to all, matsigurl

Swellchaser - cut. half the time they have pins coming from behind later. if you don't have a knife, then... yeah, just pull or lay them over - twist is not necessary. The big ten or dozen year study in Washington and Oregon a few years ago agrees that cutting is best, and that picking chanterelles helps to keep a patch productive over the years. The control patch that didn't get picked at all started petering out. The lady in charge of it spoke at a SVIMS meeting a year or so ago, maybe two years ago? ... Nice chill in the air and the rain was cool to cold today... good for matsi! :) full buckets!

Hi all, I am the patch buyer in Nakusp, and I figure I will attempt to explain whats going on in this neck of the woods. there are some decent white chanties, 40 lbs/day. price between 1-2 depending on rainfall that day. pines, well, those are very rare. a good picker can find 3 or 4 buttons all day. So, there ya have it. Hoping for a pine pop, weather looks ok but usually its skidoo time here in 2 weeks.....

Thanks Full Buckets. there is a reason you will never see me on the other board - I'm on here for good clear info, and to occasionally have some dialogue with real pickers and folks who truly care about the mushrooms and the ecology, the business angle, as I am an entrepreneurial sorta guy, and about learning more every season. I used to mostly just lurk, but this year have a bit more time, and felt like posting. (I was also shroomdude and shroomguy, once or twice. I like kid better! :) ) And, I really am on VI, and really am keen, if not addicted, to the hunt - and even better, am sober now, so I'm not stumbling around the bush and hurting myself, nor the patch, and have so much more patience, so am learning something new every single time I go out. I don't need the other board - I belong to enough clubs already! :) Cheers.

Hi Island picker, and CRpicker, and everyone else, do you find lobster in the same time as pines? like, do they start showing at the same time in your areas? or are lobster first, then pines? so far, no good lobsters here, only the earliest few turned to mush, or the deer dug up and chewed. none in the real patch yet either, but then, the russulas and shrimps aren't there yet either... maybe after last night's and today's cold rain? full buckets! and happy TG!

CRpicker, why don't you market them yourself, online. You'll get a better dollar, just a bit more leg work to do. :) ~~ and Carla, I fully agree - it all depends on the picker, and the conditions, and the time of day and location they go to. Some of us have a rule that if we don't see anything after 20 min. we head back to the truck and move on, others have a 1 km rule, etc. I also have found that the early bird only gets a good picking in if they scouted the block the day before and saw the bounty before them. otherwise, it seems to have to warm up a little for the new ones to pop, like morels in a burn specially, so I'm not in the rush I used to be to get out in the early morning. And some us are slow and steady Eddy's, and some are hyper-caffinated Cathy's, eagle-eye Edwin's and foggy-head Fred's. We all have a different kind of eye for it, and luckily, most of us get better at it every year, and learn something new about it evey year. My learning curve this year has been great! :) can't wait for the pine patch to sprout, but in the meanwhile, exploring and finding new chant spots closer and closer to home! so happy! :) Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Full buckets!

Hey picka, The buying station in Campbell River is across from the Ideal Cafe in Campbellton across bridge. Head North across bridge turn into the Ideal cafe and cross the road on the South bound side. If you are standing at the Ideal Cafe door just look across the road to the left and in the chained link fenced area. Cheers........... (PS: if you find it can you post the prices here. thanx.)

Hi Marin, Just because one picker is NOT finding any doesn't mean there isn't any.... I have pickers come in and tell me there are no chanties out there right after a guy with 12 baskets just left... Sometimes it just depends on perspective :-) Not to mislead anyone our crop is still on the way and NOT here yet but there are certain times of the year when it all depends on the picker as to what is found by whom. It is comments like this that keep me from posting about our volume in my buying area because even if I am getting a lot of mushrooms in the buy station, that doesn't mean that everyone is going to find a lot of mushrooms, it could just mean that I had a lot of pickers come in. Not trying to stir up crap just sayin ;-)

Believe this, ( and I put this on my skin) if there are any pines popping, they are still hiding under the moss. Sure feels like they should be showing any day now. I have been ALL OVER that mountain for the last seven days and have seen nothing but some fresh holes in some of the most prime areas. SO....that tells me that there is definitely something under the moss that the deer can't wait for but they have been pretty thorough so far as to consuming anything they smell. Tomorrow IS another day. There definitely is ALOT of Chanterelles and a lot of others that characteristically pop in the same time frame as pines. So I am hopeful. As for matsi's on the 90? Could be possible, I suppose. However, the buyers have yet to see them. Until a few pounds get sold, I will be a non-believer as well. But hey, what is mushroom picking without a few tall tails here and there. You got to take the good with the bad. It's inevitable. Full buckets, matsigurl. PSsst...I think within three days this whole board will have a different attitude...

For the record, there have only been five or six pines found this season so far, and they were found by Asians! Ask any buyer in Randle and they will tell you the same thing, I don't understand why August is misleading people, if you go now you'll be wasteing your gas! Swellchaser, I'm on VI. And, 3 hours for 5-10lbs of chants is normal for me these days. Timing and location is everything, and not being in a rush when you are at the patch - so much stuff is hidden. I've slowed down since my speedy 20's. I used to miss a lot. g-friend from then really taught me about that - we'd pick the same block, me power-hiking through, looking all over the place, and she'd carefully go along, be finished a 1/2 hour after me (figured it gave me time for a beer and a *oke) (quit both of those last year, makes picking better so far!), and have double or better what i had! lol! ... we used to laugh about it a lot. I wonder if she's on here, actually... Anyway, yesterday was a fluke. :) If you go pine picking though, and get the same in that time, then there's a problem! lol My real honey patches of chants by Jordan River have been logged, but I still have one elsewhere, up-island several hours drive, and I live on the real south Island. Why don't you take a spin out to Mission, or I hear it can be good around Squamish, and that's a ton closer to Van. That's where I'd go. And then of course you could look for the pines that are reportedly not toooo far from Pemberton. After my experiences finding chants so close to home now, after never looking in these places before, I'm thinking I've short-changed myself on closer-in shrooming holes... food for thought Swellchaser. :) And, btw, I'd look at the prices of shrooms on the 3 sites I mentioned earlier to guage yours. Remember, "Sold is Better than Mould!" Happy TG!

Shroomkid, Do you pick on the island or Vancouver? Went picking last weekend in the Lower Mainland. Yellow Chants are popping but not as much as it was last year this time. Very dry and mostly small buttons, with the medium size one here and there. I'm going to try a different facing slope in the next week. The mainland is no Vancouver Island that is for sure. Picking is slim. 3hrs only produced like 5lbs.

yup, chants are out! found nice new spot, really close to home yesterday, all thanks to a messy picker, leaving bits everywhere, and a line of pink tape. amazing how some folks need to tape everything... no memory??? jesus... and matsigurl, you are absolutely right - the goddess and god, Tricholoma and Cantharellus, and all the forest fairies and sprites, adore the forest cleaners, and reward amazingly. truly. witnessed it. :) i never would have spotted the sweet line of pines last year if I hadn't gone to pick up some plastic bags and beer cans. same for last year's new-to-me patch of chants. :) (yesterday's haul was a cool quick 30 pounds of white, perfect, hand-sized chants! breaky today, and TG dinner tomorrow!) Matsiman, how do we put up photos on the site? I have some from yesterday, and the last couple years that would be nice to share. Full buckets everyone! :) and Happy Thanksgiving!

No pines in the Pac NW. Went to Pdx and visited my buyer for a few minutes. Boy, he sure did have a LOT of chanties. Didn't see one pine in sight. He says middle of next week. I say the beginning. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Patience is a virtue...good things come to those that wait... Here's a challenge for all you out looking and not finding...use your plastic bag or your backpack and pickup any forest garbage you find in campsites and trails left behind by careless summer campers. You never know just when a kind gesture will be rewarded. What comes around goes around. Full buckets to all, matsigurl ;)

Thanks highstrung - we probably know each other if you sold to S&M. I was always there, deep into the night, playing hearts with those two and several other regulars...maybe you were one of them. At any rate my email is mymatsutake@gmail.com - having said that, I am a once in a blue moon email checker, but I will make a point to look for yours. Maud was a great friend, Scott not too bad either lol. An update on the Island pickin's now: loads of chanties - most in good condition, some moldy. They must have popped about a week ago...I was busy working, but nobody seems to have gotten to them yet - had two short but sweet picks yesterday and today. Going for a full day tomorrow so should break the hundred lb mark fairly easily. Getting $3 at the moment, so not getting rich, but, as they say, it is cash money. Good luck folks, especially all you Islanders...and when the pines come I'll let you know...after I've picked 'em of course...

Hi Swellchaser, thanks for asking. I charged two ways: one, for two chefs, I offered a price for perfectly clean, and one for bush clean - perf clean was around $11-13 a lb (perf means exactly that) and bush clean (I'm a blower and finger brusher, plus trim bottom) was $7-8. After the first visit, when they were both desperate for their Thanksgiving dinner services, and I had some of both, (which they both took), they opted for bush clean a couple more times each that season. (which was 3 years ago) Did a total of 230 lbs between them. I had to do a little buying that year. this board and craigslist helped me make contacts. And the other way, when advertised on craigslist and UsedVictoria, was $10 a lb for almost perf clean (I learned it was worth it to take my time in the patch, so no time spent in the wee hours at home under lights with a knife and brush, and sore back - $ you never make, doesn't help your profit margin...). If i did it now, I'd go by those two sites and kijiji, and price my good bush clean chants somewhere between the low guys and the high guys who are on there. And then of course there's the good old phone! hope that helps! full buckets!

Hey Shroomkid, I noticed in an earlier post that you mentioned calling restaurants in Whistler. What would you think is the going rate for Chanterelles to Restaurants in the Lower Mainland? I haven't sold since my days in Port Alberni, and now I just pick for fun and personal consumption. I wouldn't mind making a little coin on the side however. Thanks!

Hello cranberrydawg. If you are looking for the same Maud i know, i have info. I sold to Scott and Maud (S&M) when ever i sold in the zoo. They became good friends and we picked together in Powell River. They since have split up and Maud has moved to Japan. Yes Japan! She married a Japanees man and they have a young child. Hard to believe as Maud was such a Gypsy (and beautiful). She emails me once in a while and seems happy with her life. They came out of the big earthquake and sunami ok. I last corrisponded with her at the end of mushroom season last year. She wanted 10 lbs of buttons sent to Japan but it was too late for anything but flags. She sent me a picture of herself, her new hubby and thier child. She also has a website and i think a buisness of her own selling clothing and jewelry and other stuff. I should still have her email address so if you would like to get in touch with her, post an email and i'll send it to you and a link to her website. I have never posted here before but i do read this board during mushroom season. I will watch for your answer. Good luck picking.

Well I am no longer a Lone Lobo for now, since the wife got back home this evening. ...... Carla, I have Woofers phone number in my cell phone but haven't talked with him in a long time, perhaps it is already sniffed-out. But then two noses could be better than just one as long as the noses don't get in each others way. ...... garf, it has been many years since I drove the Cassiar. I had 'Landed' friends in New Hazleton who had moved up from Idaho. I stopped in to visit on my way to Alaska in 1982. I stopped in at Cassiar which was a thriving company mining town back then, I hear it is a ghost now. The highway was dirt and the Greyling fishing was awesome. I came back on the ALCAN through a huge forest fire that destroyed lodges and petrol stops, I have photos somewhere. The best stop on my way back was Laird River Hot Springs.

Hi retired buyer.I remember when i went up to the north picking and i came home probably about October 6th . It was really wet and windy that year and the night i left the price went up to 90 a lb. i sold at 75 as we had to get going . Made 350 bucks in two hrs right behind where we were camped . Van dyke area..we were advised by our buyer Cathy (big french canadian family) as the roads could become impassible. Didn't seem that bad but we left. Since then the mushrooms i have always had the desire to go back but work and knowing this area so much better for picking have kept me home. Honestly i found some nice patches up there but when some of my spots come good here i wouldn't trade them for any . i've seen white and lots of it.. just not yet this year but a few years back i never picked much before mid october .. just on a few occasions.. still in this area i have my doubts about it coming very good .Lots of spots i know to the inch almost so i can keep pretty good track .. the advantages of old age and lots of hiking and i had an excellent teacher for the matsu's ... RIP my friend. i always think of you more this time of year. I know how you loved it.

Believe it or not, there was a rumor that SOMEONE found ONE lone matsi in a patch of Kings today. I will not/can not verify this rumor because I sure didn't find any while I was in MY patch of Kings. MY patch of Kings (and this is NOT a rumor) were coming on like weeds. $13/lb. in Portland as of this AM. As a matter of FACT-I think I will go back tonight with my lantern and scoop up on the ones I passed by. Full Buckets, matsigurl

hey jmc, wow... thanks. so, if I come up there in the daylight, I'll be a little shocked... if i come at night, won't be so bad... bummer, in some ways. employment for others, and then, the creation of potential new chant patches in 20 years... I'll be mid-50's then... and maybe retired! so, it'll be awesome to come up for extended periods and camp and hunt shrooms all over ... Any ideas if they want to develop any of the areas for housing, or keep them as tfl's? big bummer about the Bamfield zone - used to be a sweet honey patch of chants and whatnot like angelwings down that road, about 20 minutes down. (like, 1000 sq. feet of scattered orange peels two years in a row!) sigh... Do you know who is doing the logging in the various areas? must be different outfits. ... also, is Keith still in operation out there, buying and selling mushrooms and berries, and all that, out by the rez, across the bridge? Thanks! :) full buckets! i'll let you know if I have time to make the dash up there, and maybe we can find time for a java or something.

Shroomkid.....Don't know about the mushroom fest. Sproat Lake has been logged hard out to Central Lake and the Ash Valley has been pounded also. Browns Bay sort on Central Lake has reopened. The Bamfield road has been nuked from one end to the other. Even the Log Train Trail from the motocross track to Coombs Country Candy store has a brand new road and is going to be neutralized in the very near future.Just about every patch I pick has new logging roads through them. Those damn road builders must be following me around. If you really want to see some devastation go in behind Loon Lake on top of the hump and head north.

Hangin' the caulk boots on the peg for another season and heading for some more familiar territory and hopefully some good pickin's on Thursday. Like Garf up north I'll give you all the straight goods when I get back. Good luck to all the islanders that are waiting for this late pine season - I think it's coming, but it'll be quick. Hi Bunk, Dano, Zed... And I guess I missed you Shantyman, shucks. Keith, I'll check in at the end of the week - I do believe I have a little something of yours. And, Maud, where the heck are you?

Hello everyone.WOW,there's alot going on here.ok first of all,Old man what's up with that,it's not like you to come out of the starting gate and poke at someone the way you did unless of course your back on that jungle juice again.I knew that this might happen when you said that you were going back to work with the same old boys.If you read back you'll probably notice that it was aimed at me because everyone thought that it's one person playing two, in which case I can asure all that it's actuly two people really. With that been said my apologies to does that have been offended by my friend.the other thing old man is what the hell is up with the baskets of mush that you sent.Who ever droped them off left them outside on the ground and were they even good when you picked them?maan they aren't even good for anything.Anyways try to keep in touch but only if your sober.Well now for my huge error with my math,I was tiered and in a rush to get back but again with the small buttons I noticed after the fact and I don't know how to go back and correct my mistakes just yet,but I'am slowly but surely learning.I actully had a young fellow show me a few things this morning and yes I now know how to get on mad morell to everyone's relief.lol.My daughter had droped in to my surprise and gave me this huge calculater and I mean huge with big letters so that will not happen again lol.I knew therewas a catch 22 when she set me up on here it's her way of keeping tabs on me.As for putting pictures on here well again dint know you could do such things,I do have a up to date camara at home.I have a hell of a time turning it on let alone taking pictures, dam thing keeps shutting it's self off every time I try to take pictures, you got it small buttons.I'll stick to my 35mm works every time.when I get back home I will see if my daughter could do something about putting some on here.I never leave home without my 35mm.As for the picking well,it hasn't been that great since my last post.I would say that 80% or more is wormed out,not good, and yes that damn bear for some reason he seems to beat me there, does anyone know why they only eat the stalk or even eat them at all.Every time I get to the patch there's caps on the ground with no stalk weird .as for writing a book I'd love to but if it wasn't for this correcting my every mistake you'd probably think that it was a ten year old doing this.the more I get to know this thing the more I like it,it's a beautiful thing as Martha would say.Is matzo man a year round deal or just when picking is on?last but not least I would like to say if there's anyone out there that doesn't want me on here just say so and I'll go to mad morrel not a problem.I really enjoy this and good to know that there are old time pickers on here besides me.It was stupid of me to think it was all young bucks on here the laugh is on me,so until sat- full packs and lots of cash.thank you.

Shogun, I am of the oopinion that Phantom Picker may be a Phantom Writer not a Mad MorelI at all. I am with JDS & garf here in belief that iffin "New Math" makes 40 lbs at 47 a lb calculate out at $425.00 then I need a new adding machine. I keep shaking my old calculator but it keeps putting out $1,880.00, so I figure that mine must be brok fur sure and that I need to find ther pine patches cuz they are getting way more then I can this year. Full Buckets to ya all.

Thanks jmc. That's amazing. i heard that it used to be good picking chants up Ash Creek way, like, north of the airport a ways. never looked there. guess we'll have to wait 20 years... my fave patch in your neck of the woods was logged back in the 80's, I believe. I hope it's not in the block. will have to come up and take a look! :) how are things around Sproat Lk? I used to like a little patch barely west of the lake, on the main that side, till they deac'd it a few years ago. might have been reopened lately. Are they logging more up around Great Central too? or heading down towards Bamfield now? also, do you know if they're having the Mushroom Fest in Bamfield this year? it was cancelled last year, and I wanted to come. ~~ And, thanks Island Picker. No pines yet down here either, and I have to go pretty far for chants right now, and don't have enough time. hope our winter shrooms will be good this year! Full buckets to you both.

Phantom Picker, please accept my apologies for all of my unbelief or for helping to build fire under the pot that seems to have boiled over a little. It does seem a bit incredible or even awesome that someone could be getting as many high-grade pines and selling for so much when others may not even be picking enough for petrol money. Who would have thought that anyone would bother attempting to bury their vehicle in three feet of mud, even in my wildest attempts I could not get out that deep unless with a deuce & a half or five ton. I thought that perhaps you were our resident Mad Morel talking to himself being as it seemed as though you write in a much similar manner. I find myself in that same age bracket and also have developed my own higher paying markets. I do agree with others in that there might be a niche for you in writing story books or SNL skits even if it is done with one pecking finger stroke at a time. I would leave all the spelling as-is also for it makes it a fun read. How-some-ever entertaining it is I am inclined to pidgeon-hole it in the fantastic-frantic-fantasy catalog until I become convinced that it is all totally conceivable as being more than that. Still grinning from the entertainment, thanks.

Catch 22, log and export all the wood, or not log and have a bunch more unemployment. Strange though how we are led to believe that this is the only way we can move forward in the world. Has anyone noticed the protest going on in New York and Wall Street. People are starting to figure out just how much we are ripping each other off at the expense of the environment and the economy. Keep an eye on what is trying to birth..... Something has got to give. I'm seeing a LOT more turmoil in the near future. Get ready!! Oh!------ and good picking everyone.

Shroomkid I'm in Port Alberni. They are logging heavily down Museam creek, Franklin, Cameron, Ash, just about everywhere. At the pace they are going there will not be a stand of timber worth picking within 5 years. China Creek sort is processing up to 100 loads a day.

Let's see, it's 8:45 am and the temp outside is about 45 or 50 degrees. I am 5'3" and my Helly Hansen's are probably at least one size too big. Then you have to count the size 8 hip waders when my feet are really just a size 6. Hot? YEP!! lol....Wish me luck! I am heading up to the mountain! Full buckets to all, matsigurl

What a weekend!! I must have put at least twelve or fifteen miles under my feet. Up here there is always plenty to see-mushrooms or not. Unfortuneately, I saw very little in the way of fungi but sure did get to take in a lot of beautiful views. And then late today, we got rain. A lot. And the temp is dropping and I am thinking to myself, "Tomorrow is gonna be the day" So I have my rain gear hanging to dry and I just can't hardly wait. Thought I'd share my thoughts with the only people who understand. Hope to see y'all somewhere between Cougar and Randle. Full buckets to all...

no need to call folks out, unless they are spreading erroneous information on how to key out a species, or something like that. We each have our own kind of knowledge that helps us find, or lose out on, these fantastic fungi that we are addicted to hunting. :) (~~ like, coastal dune matsi's???? do tell, forest harvest! this might change how I hunt. I can say that the matsi i find are all in a forest with a very sandy-gravelly sub-soil, beneath the smidge of moss and duff that's there...) Also, let each person show how screwy they are, all on their own, without being told so by someone else. keep things light and informative on this board please. :) use the bull board for anything and everything else. muchos gracias! :)

Hey folk , Jake Pine I'm located in central New England . First of all my condolences to the family of the picker lost to the bush . Yes people, is no good to take the bush for granted and think that you will be able to get out of it every time , shit happens you never know. Well I do agree with Lobo about the weather, this year the weather has been nothing but unpredictable , I hate to describe natural phenomena with human qualities , however the only word I can think to describe the weather this year is this maniacal , 3 weeks ago we had a frost , matsies loved it , then last week we were in the 80's and then one day we had a 50 degrees temperature swing , freaking maniacal , It has been raining constantly for the past month and with this hot weather matsies are flagging like crazy . still good pickings however next week I'm taking a coastal dunes matsie hunting trip. take care and be safe out there .

hi gang. Hello jmc, which PA are you at? Port Angeles, WA, or Port Alberni, BC, or Port Alice? Or another PA? :) I want to get up-Island (live in south-VI) to my favourite patches, but a little worried about some logging I heard was going on up there, if I am coming mid-week. Where are they logging in your area? ~~ And, island picker, hello. Are things looking pretty good that far up? I'd love to come up for a visit, but I can't get enough time off work, so I have to stay within 2.5 hours drive of home. If you're going to Texada on spec, good luck. How are things around Cumberland? I've thought about checking out the second-growth there... Have you heard anything about Campbell River and area? Gold River? Sayward? Apparently there are some real honey spots way up there... :) ~~ And, wild side, thank-you. :) Full buckets everyone! (and functioning dehydrators!!!)

Phantom Picker, my sincere apologies! I just like to stirr the pot here and there but you sound like you know what you are doing and good for you on the pricing and volume. You must admit it sounds like a fairy tale though! But hey, we all know that somewhere out there in the woods, there are probably thousands of lbs just rotting away in some patch that is too far to get too. Are you in the States or BC? At least give us that much hahaha Good luck and keep on keeping on!

Well, where do I start?oook first of all to answer some of your questions.( 1 ) I'am not one person posting and then answering my self that's just ridiculous on your part.( 2 ) Why am I posting here and not somewhere els or E-mail you say well I'll tell you why.I'm a older man in my 60s to tell you the truth and using a cell phone with dum pinhead buttons that don't work properly when you have large hands letalone a laptop that I don't know how to use just yet.Anyhow this is my first time on matzo man din't know it even existed until my kids set me up with it knowing that I have problems with a dum cell.all I have to do is go where there's Internet push on and poof! There it is how nice is that.I could probably go to another sight or E-mail like you say but,I don't know how.the last time I tried to do something on here I ended up in some god forsaken porn sight then everything froze and could not get out of it if my life dependend on it,so there for I keep it simple, push on then type and I must say that it takes a while using one finger. As for my price and amount that I pick well, what can I say except that I have worked very hard to get where I'm at.Dont get me wrong there's alot of other patchess around here that I have picked but for some reason they aren't coming in as well so this drove me to go further and wouldent you know it I found the biggest patch that I have ever seen in years. As for my price, that to took me years to do,alot of hoofing and phoning, but that had not paid of it was purely accidental that I had found him.To make it short I had accidentally met him in a restaurant we talked and one thing led to another.now here we are ,he wants what I can get and money is no object cause he has clientale and the know how what more could anyone ask for.as for needing a dump truck for the two's why should I bother when I get better cash for ones .when ones start to thin out then I will consider a dump truck or two lol.As for sharing my location that will never happen dew to bad experiences in the past from ,moss scraping hole digging garbage leaving patch pirates.Anyways if what I post bothers you then I suggest that you don't read what I post.Otherwise I will only post on tue and sat if I need to this should ease the pain to some.I also hear that there isn't much coming in anywhere els,I'm sorry for your luck but hang in there it's going to happen soon everything is late this year it's going to be short and sweet I think.Hey old man haven't seen any post yet what's up?good luck to everyone out there.

what would be the reason for continually using this board as an email system instead of just using email to tell each other of their continuous UNBELIEVABLE days and prices, perhaps lead some gullible pickers astray?? only 50lbs of buttons at $47, haha, guess he needs a dump truck for his number 2's. Most buyers in Terrace aren't seeing 50lbs buttons a day.

Hey old man.sorry for not posting earlier but I've been really busy. After my last post I finished up in town and headed back to the shack,it took the rest of the night to reenforce the door.Early tue- I headed to the patch for a pick,it took me 3hrs to get there, filled my pack and headed back but it's taken 41/2hrs to get back because I had to stop and rest often, getting a little old to be a mule.lol, and to think I only had 50lbs of buttons.Got back around 5pm so that was only a 21/2 hr pick not bad,but it makes it a long hike.after storeing the shrooms I went in for dinner. After that I cleaned up made coffee and sat down and rolled a fat one.just as I was getting ready to spark up I heard noise outside I thought shit it can't be that dam bear again so I turned to look out the window and holly shit! Theres the bear looking back at me.Scared the living shit out of me,I jumped back still caught on the chair and hit my tail bone, fuck that hurts! Forgot to mention I also got bear bangers and more bear spray.anyhow in a panic I picked my self up grabed the banger and spray, went to the door and craked it a little so's I could let the banger off. While trying to get that dam thing off I accidentally squeezed the pepper spray well holly crap!just then the frikin banger goes off, hits the door and bounces back into the room and before you know it , There's a loud explosion wow!! Now I'm deaf can't see and I'm coughing to the point of almost peuking, and my tail bone is killing me .I franticly make my way to the bathroom and get my eyes cleaned enough to see.I crack the door enough to look into the room cause I don't know where the bear is , all I see is blue smoke and luckily no bear ( phew)! Somehow the door got closed.must of been when I was rolling around on the floor.I'll tell ya,that shit doesn't wash of so easy.I don't know how many times I washed the wall and floor but the smell of that crap doesn't come out.I can still taste it and my eyes still burn everytime I walk into the shack.also had to buy a doughnut ring to make the ride into town easier.Needless to say I did not pick the next day .I did go on Thursday but it wasn't a very good one cause of my tailbone.went out today but again a slow one, I only got 40lbs for both days but in all it will still work out to $425. Still good.not going out tomoro cause buyer will be in town by noon. Not really much for him I wish you had more to send here.Anyhow now that you got a laugh down to business.I got a hold of my boy and he got a job on the rigs so he's out.tried to contact someone at your place but no luck.then I got a hold of C and D but there busy so they say, just as well cause now that I've thought about it I really don't want anyone els to know where (MY) patch is .only cause you know what it's like when you let anyone in the patch, before you know it there's a hundred people in there and they all say it's there patch when they bring there friends into it,so there for no thanks never again will I give anybody that chance. Are you ever going to make it here or are u busy for the whole season?tell you the truth it really doesn't matter cause I still make good coin doing what I can. I know that the patch will always be here for us.anyways it's getting late and I got a long drive back so until next post and I hope to hear from you .I'll be in town tomoro to meet buyer so hopefully you'll post by then and let me know what the scoop is.PS I made an error on my total work it out you'll see,$47lb is what I'm getting now try to send some if you can it's better for him if he gets the pounds makes his trip worthwhile.ok bud gotta go. Good luck.out.
