MessagesI seriously doubt the Discovery Channel or any other film company is looking to make you both rich and famous at the same time. If they had paid the loads of cash you demanded for the foray, why would you expect them to advertise for you as well? I doubt they would have shown your face or even mentioned your company. Your reward for taking them out would have been all the cash you demanded. Also, if you are going to call someone's words "immortal" shouldn't you take the time to quote them correctly?

The "adventure" is the actual trip and once again in my opinion if people go on a forey because of the fleeting hope to be on TV are missing the point.
MessagesTo Monz I'm not sure but I would be willing to bet you have never planned for a remote harvest. There is a lot of work behind trips like these, and if you do it wrong, you could end up with a lot of problems. As for the T.V. part, remember the immortal words of Andy Warhol, " Everbody will get their 15 minutes of fame" or something like that. Not everybody who works or picks in this industry does so for altruistic reasons. I do what I do to teach and to make a decent living. But if I invest $100,000.00+ into my company, I expect to make profit. For my company, the Discovery Channel presence offer as a bonus to host the club was a big attractor. Not sure why you don't see why people would consider a scenario like this as an Adventure Vacation, even if this is not something you might do yourself. His spelling errors do however give away his identity.I suspect almost all negative comments directed towards you come from one source. Your time is probably bettered served by not responding to his attempt to anger you.

MessagesI did recive a refund for the 7190 and the membership of 95. im only half happy. I still fell that damages were done. and how I was strung along to canada that costed me almost 30,000 dollars. so ill see if the check clears tommarow then ill feel a little better. some new info has come my way and it will be very intresting how it plays out.. They have been given the truth and to continue on would be an exercise in futility. I am planning for the 09 season and all jobs are still open for you and all the members of last years staffing program set in place. Except the Cook. Apparently he was found to be cooking something he shouldn't and now he is working for the federal boys in their kitchens. He says he will be available for the 2010 season, but I have passed. So I will be looking out for a new chef. Gerry
MessagesI have been very interested to read some of the comments about the "failed morel foray" because I was supposed to be one of the people going in there to help teach and look after the guests. First a little background on myself....I have been in this industry for over 20 years and have been all over western Canada and NW Untied States picking and buying mushrooms, all kinds of different mushrooms with morels being one of them. Gerry started talking to me about the "foray" early last spring and this was after we had numerous conversations about his company and his objectives as far as his company was concerned. We had discussed many aspects of how this was going to work and for a period in the spring we were on the phone or emailing almost every day. I was even in contact with other "front end" people that were backing Gerry. Gerry was keeping me updated on what was happening with the mushroom club that was supposed to come to Canada and go with us into the remote camp. As time began to grow short for all the little ducks to be lined up both Gerry and I began to feel the tension of not having "as it turns out" this Chris Matherly complete his end of things so we could move forward with our, meaning Gerry's plan and in extension everybody else's that was supposed to be employed in the eco tour. I am well aware that Gerry recieved the advance payment 45 days late and short a third of what it was supposed to be, as well as not certified. I am also aware that even after Gerry had told Chris that because the basic requirements had not been met that the remote was canceled, Chris was still advising people that had paid him money to go on the remote to head north everything was a go. I realize everyone will have their own opinion about this sort of thing but from where I sit and knowing what I know I will keep dealing with Gerry and hopefully become involved with eco tourism this season but Chris you had best see your lawyer, probably a good idea to keep him on retainer. Cascade King Idaho's commercial mushroom camps were closed for racist reasons and nothing more. There was no garbage left in these camps and the forests weren't "trashed". No citations were issued to pickers for littering either, which would seem to be the first logical step if the forest service was to honestly claim the forests were trashed. Picking was still allowed in Idaho if you had a season or "personal use" permit.

MessagesHey dude - a picture says a 1000 words, (not saying iv seen pics of you in the wilderness), but many of the pics I saw, are clearly in areas of no picking, read the regulations the state or forest service provides for us in Washington and Oregon and Idaho, you might accidently learn some things, by reading, dont get your info off the web, try calling, better yet ---- get a dirrect snail mail update from the proposed area you intend to target, that way its on paper. This is because every year sites can change status frequently with closures. Chris Matherly was given an opprotunity to write all he wants, and Why does he need time to give his side of this "Never ending Story" in the first place? If he's not in the wrong, then he should have had his lawyer give me a call. Besides, if he'll forge and fabricate a document and pass it off to his club members, 2-3 days after the real cancellation was given, what is he going to fabricate this time. I have no idea why Chris acted in the manner he did, considering his excellent website and the exposure he had with the Cash and Treasure show. But that so called Reputation does not allow him to falsify documents, deliberately mislead his members, mis-represent the intentions of Discovery Channel and straight out have my company do all of his logistical research setting up his itinerary without seeing someone seeking retribution and compenasation. Did I forget not refunding monies advanced by his members. As to Discovery Channel backing out at the last minute. I never said that Discovery backed out at the last minute, I stated that Discovery never had plans to film this foray period. And Chris knew this long before he finally gave me the Discovery Channel contact on June 4/08. Chris deliberately sold a false bill of goods to both his members and I and he's been caught. Finally, Your final comment regarding the "No Fame No Gains for My Company" If my company was not going to receive the exposure, why would I allow 1 group of guests that did not even cover expenses let alone see my company make a profit. Just for your Knowledge. Just to outfit a 10 guest camp, with all safety equipment included, carries a cost over $100,000.00. I await Chris's version of his reasons as to why he did the things he did, but if your reading this, I will accept a call from Chris with his explanation. As for you teaching folks, you sure didnt teach chris much, in his photos of the trips I personally viewed were of morels with roots attached in almost every pic, them pics were golden, not to mention some of the locations in the pics were clearly off limits to commercial harvest. the whole internet world saw them pics and made many people very unhappy! guess your OK with that, im not. as for you trying to make a buck go do it, IM not stopping you from benefiting off our wildernesses or woods, you for one knows the rules out west and you failed to teach that to chris You can cry all you want but your still busted, the only thing I have against you is that I want you to follow the rules like I have to, plain and simple, be insured, be licensed and bonded, so when time comes, your pay per views are protected. I dont need nor want your patches, iv got more than i can scout as it is, I found so many mushrooms this year I didnt even make it to half of my special places, was no need to. but please read the rules for each forest you enter, they change frequently, you have to know they are all different and require sepperate permits, please make sure your paying customers are aware of this fact before you send them into a bees nest of fines, as a guide you take on a whole lot of responcibilities and iv failed to see that through your comments or chris's pictures or folks iv talked to who attended some of the morel clubs forays. I want more preservation and protection of our forested lands and when I see commercial robbery in places it dont belong, it takes on a whole new meaning. just cover your bases and dot your i's, that is all the meaningful advice i can give you, your customers will judge you from there, on my3cents.com, that site speaks for its self

I do believe a pay foray is right when I take them to places that I have picked over many years and I never took them to where others picked. I have always pick patches that I have found a long time before they the other people found some but not all and I still look on for new ground because of people like you cry out that you were there first and its your place. The Forest belong to you and me and to those six or seven states away and if they won't to pay for the trip,It's up to them and not for you to say it's wrong. A job is a job and I well never work for free. Messagestruffledog - you forgot to mention the mt st helens volcanic monument foray, that was guided by august in october, that stated it was to be a once in a life time free for all on protected lands. then prior to this was trips to mt rainier in more wilderness areas. thanks to a few good people for screwing up fun for the honest folks who just want to seek and not profit, all in the name of cash and treasure, and maybe get on TV, a point well taken and abused by a guy six states away by a guy with no empathy for regulations or forethought. I tried to warn others about him 2 years ago but was banned and made to hide behind a different handle. IM so glad this is finally exposed and lets go some of my fowl tastes this industry can offer by a select few. I will NOT forget the names of the people who badgered me on the matsiman site for me sticking up for the right reasons and not the wrong ones - jerks - now hide your shameless faces, you know who you are! PS: this wasnt the learning curve I was looking for on the matsi boards, but sold me the vision on who not to deal with and warn others who might fall prey.
