Gyromitra gigas

      This variety of false morel pictured to the left of a black natural is known by several different names including Brains, Calf's Brains, Snow False Morel etc.  It often is a precursor to the Black Natural and is often the first to grow as the snow melts.  It used to be purchased by mushroom buyers but that market has slacked off in recent years as people have become more educated as to dangers involved with consuming it.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyromitra_gigas
